The Heavenquaker Spear and Strategic Sword build focuses on applying 5 stacks of Bleed to enemies and triggering the Heavenquaker Spear's Sober Sorrow to gain buffs. With the Wolfchaser's Art, while Sword Horizon enhances every High Bleed proc through Crosswind Blade, increasing both damage and Affinity consistency. Together, these Inner Ways turn short buff windows into repeated Blood Burst detonations, making careful tracking of buff and debuff durations essential to the build's true potential.

Path: Bellstrike - Umbra

The build alternates between Strategic Sword and Heavenquaker Spear to create a tight DoT-burst window. Use Strategic Sword's Inner Track Slash (second stage) to apply the full 5 Bleed stacks.

Swap to Heavenquaker to cast Sober Sorrow and hit the Charged Heavy (stage 1) to apply Soul Shaken. Then swap back to Strategic Sword to proc Blood Burst with the Special Skill + Crosswind Blade loop.

Best Inner Way

Inner Way Details
Sword Horizon Icon Sword Horizon
After casting Strategic Sword's Martial Arts Skill, Special Skill, or Charged Skill, press the skill button at the perfect timing during the ending phase to cast Crisscrossing Swords and unleash follow-up attacks. If the target has 5 stacks of Bleed, remove all Bleed stacks and deal high Bleed damage once.
Wolfchaser Wolfchaser's Art
Reduces the required combo number to gain Heavenquaker Spear's Martial Arts Skill, Sorrow Without Wine buff from 5/10 to 4/8. Each time Sorrow Without Wine hits a boss with Bleed effect from you, there is a 20% / 40% / 60% / 80% / 100% chance to increase the combo count by 1 based on the number of Bleed stacks.
Morale Chant Icon Morale Chant
80% chance to gain one stack of Yi River when attacking or healing. Yi River: Increases Physical Damage and healing by 1% for 8 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. The chance to gain Yi River is only calculated once every 2 seconds.
Envigorated Warrior Icon Envigorated Warrior
Increases all damage and healing done by 5%. This effect is disabled for 5 seconds after being hit. Taking a hit also grants a Cage effect, increasing all damage taken by 5%.

For your Inner Ways, you can stick to the Bellstrike Umbra's inner art as these will automatically synergize with the build's weapon swap, skill usage, and DoT-centric playstyle.

Sword Horizon should be upgraded first because it directly increases High Bleed damage while guaranteeing Affinity hits through Crosswind Blade Spirits. Every tier improves either your damage consistency, stamina economy, or burst reliability, making it the single highest-impact Inner Way for this build.

Inner Way Details
Adaptive Steel Icon Adaptive Steel
Gain a Martial Skill effect based on the blade weapon you are using. The Martial Skill of Sword has a 10-second cooldown, while Dual Blades' Martial Skill has a cooldown of 25 seconds.

In PvP, consider replacing Envigorated Warrior with Adaptive Steel, as the increased damage taken from Invigorated Warrior becomes a serious liability against players.

Best Mystic Arts

Mystic Arts Set and Stats How to Play
Stat Group Recommended Substats
Drunken Poet Icon Drunken Poet
Drink deeply to enter the Intoxicated state, imitating the drunken grace of the Poet Immortal. Cast repeatedly for up to 5 strikes, each consuming 6 Vitality. Intoxicated: Lasts 30s. Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet can be used without drinking.
Dragon Dragon's Breath
Drink to enter Intoxicated. Breath fire with Qi, dealing damage over 2 hits plus Ignition. Gain 15% Damage Reduction and Fortitude. Intoxicated: Lasts 30s. Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet can be used without drinking. Ignition: Target takes damage every 0.5s for 8s.
Soaring Spin Icon Soaring Spin
Channel your Qi into a roaring thrust, dealing damage to units along the path. Then suddenly shift stance into a spiraling follow-up strike that catches enemies off-guard. Hitting a target reduces their Healing Received by 60% over 5s.
Cloud Steps Icon Cloud Steps
Stomp on an enemy's shoulder to deal Physical Damage, other Attribute Damage effective against Cavalry and other units with Unstable Poise.

Dragon's Breath applies burn, and Drunken Poet turns that burn into explosive bonus damage, which makes the combo hit far above its cost. Once you’re intoxicated, you can loop both skills cheaply and keep constant pressure without breaking your rotation. Meanwhile, Soaring Spin lets you close the gap quickly in and reduces enemy healing. Cloud Steps is also very useful against enemies on mounts!

Alternative Mystic Arts for PVP

Stat Group Recommended Substats
Serene Breeze Icon Serene Breeze
Channel Qi into your body to clear blockages in the veins. Can be used while under attack or control effects. On hit, reduces the target's Endurance recovery by 50% and deals damage for 8s.
Meridian Touch Icon Meridian Touch
Chance to immobilize, deal Physical damage, and break Vital Points. Immobilize is ineffective against mighty enemies. Vital Points: These enemies have bound Qi bars. Breaking their Vital Points disables Qi regen, deals extra Physical damage and Qi Damage.

Alongside from Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet, which are excellent, you can choose any of Mystic Arts above for PvP. Serene Breeze frees you from Crowd Control and provides a crucial escape tool in critical moments. Do not underestimate Cloud Steps, as it effectively gives you a free, risk-free hit in PvP! Meridian Touch is more than a poke, it's a teleporting control tool that lets you chase fleeing enemies, trap them, and even punish jump attempts before they can escape.

Set Gear

Hawkwing Icon Hawkwing

2 Set Effect: +0.1% Affinity Rate
4 Set Effect: When any of your damage triggers Affinity, gain Hawkwing: Increases Physical Attack by 2% for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times.
Eaglerise Icon Eaglerise

Armor
2 Set Effect: +1 Physical Defense
4 Set Effect: Dealing damage over time or healing grants 1 stack of Eaglerise: Reduces damage taken by 1.2% for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. At max stacks, receives an Eagle Guard effect that reduces the next incoming damage within 10 seconds by 90% (halved when the damage comes from a boss). This effect can only trigger once every 30 seconds.

For our set gear, Hawkwing provides the most value due to its high affinity bonuses to help you deal more damage with the amount of hits you can inflict. Due to our build's DoT nature, we will often fight high HP enemies before bursting them with the bleed's amplified DoT effect, which lets us capitalize on the damage bonus even more. Take note that the set can only be target farmed from the Still Shore, Gleaming Abyss, and a chance to drop on Sword Trials.

For our defensive setup, Eaglerise is an easy slot in as we can quickly apply DoT and keep the effect of Eagle Guard as much as possible; however, this effect has a 30 second cooldown, so avoid getting hit and treat it as a free hit you can take now and then.

How to Play Heavenquaker Spear and Strategic Sword

Overview Martial Arts Inner Way

Recommended PvE Rotation

The build's identity does not rely on raw damage per hit but rather, focusing on stacking up Bleed and amplifying it for a huge burst of damage during the combo's final stage. Ensure that you focus on bleed stack application, then capitalize on the buffs and debuffs you can get from it before executing enemies with the final burst. The rotation is as follows:

  1. Start with Strategic Sword and use Inner Track Slash (second stage) to apply 5 stacks of Bleed.
  2. Swap to Heavenquaker Spear and cast Sober Sorrow, building combo to around 10 hits, then animation-cancel to secure Riverflow and Flowing River by using parry button.
  3. Use Heavenquaker Spear's Charged Heavy (first charge stage) to apply Soul Shaken, stacking it to 5 and canceling once the stacks are applied.
  4. Cast Dragon's Breath to apply Burn, then immediately press the Parry button once the skill hits the enemy to animation-cancel.
  5. Swap back to Strategic Sword and begin your main damage loop: Inner Balance Strike III (Special Skill), then immediately follow with Crosswind Blade.
  6. Repeat the Inner Balance Strike III + Crosswind Blade combo 3 to 4 times while buffs are active.
  7. Reset the rotation once Soul Shaken or Riverflow is about to expire, and repeat from the beginning.

PvP Tips and Tricks

While a full rotation in PvP is often unrealistic, prioritizing key skills like Inner Track Slash, Sober Sorrow, and High Bleed procs ensures you still maximize damage within shorter windows.

  • Focus on stacking Bleed quickly and detonating it during buff windows to make every opportunity count.
  • Use Animation-Canceling whenever necessary!
  • Take your time and bait out enemy cooldowns before committing to your combos.
  • After staggering them with tools like Cloud Steps, commit to your combo, and weave in Meridian Touch between exchanges to chip them down and keep their Qi from recovering.
  • Some weapons require more careful handling, such as baiting out Thundercry Blade’s Suncrush Gale, or dealing with the Vernal Umbrella users by parrying its Spring Away shots until they land, or using Cloud Steps to bring them down.
  • Do not hesitate to retreat after a bad trade, recover safely, bait out their cooldowns again, then look for a clean stagger and combo.
  • This build rewards aggressive play and proper combo execution after you create an opening.
  • Use Dragon’s Breath and Drunken Poet right after an execution, and consider animation-canceling Dragon’s Breath when necessary
  • Use Serene Breeze whenever you’re caught in an enemy’s combo to break free and regain control.
  • Use Cloud Steps to close gaps quickly and secure free damage on your target.
  • Use Soaring Spin as a gap closer and apply strong healing-reduction debuff, if your opponent utilizes them.
