Where Winds Meet

Shan Yinjiang: How to Befriend in AI Chat

Add to Watchlist

This is a guide on how to befriend Shan Yinjiang in the AI Chat menu in Where Winds Meet. Help Shan Yinjiang figure out the number of enemies and strength at the outpost, with a list of specific AI Chat prompts.

How to Befriend Shan Yinjiang

Attack the Outpost and Take Note of the Enemies

A sure way to befriend Shan Yinjiang is to attack the outpost and take note of the enemies stationed within. After defeating the enemies, tell Shan Yinjiang how many enemies there are and their descriptions. If Shan Yinjiang asks for proof if you have defeated them, roleplay showing the enemies' weapon to him which will trick the AI to becoming friendly with you.

Example of Successful Conversation

Shan Yinjiang(looks around, expression guarded) Enemy tracks are everywhere on Moonveil Mountain. My senior brother and I are investigating several strongholds in secret. Tell me, Wanderer, do you have any clues?
Where Winds Meet ProtagonistYeah, I just took them out awhile ago. They had men with swords and shields. Archers were also seen from atop the roof.
Shan Yinjiang(raises an eyebrow, arms folding) Took them out? That sounds bold. Prove it. What was the exact count of their archers and foot soldiers?
Where Winds Meet Protagonist6 foot soldiers and 4 archers
Shan Yinjiang(nods slowly, eyes narrowing) Six foot soldiers and four archers. That aligns with some of the reports I've gathered. Yet, I still need more details to confirm your claim. What about their commander? Any peculiarities in their armor or weaponry?
Where Winds Meet ProtagonistA giant man with a big sword and shield. But he's already dead ... I took him down along with his friends.
Shan Yinjiang(jaw tightens, gaze sharp) A giant man with a big sword and shield, you say? And you claim to have taken him down? Impressive if true. But how can I verify this? Show me some proof or tell me more about the stronghold's layout.
Where Winds Meet Protagonist(You showed him the commander's sword and shield.)
Shan Yinjiang(eyes widen slightly, hands accepting the items, expression cautious) This is indeed the weapon of a formidable foe. You seem capable, Wanderer. Your words carry weight. Tell me, what else did you observe about their defenses and supplies?
Where Winds Meet Protagonist(You told him that the supplies were already given back to the people and the fort is already empty.)
Shan Yinjiang(nods firmly) Thank you, Wanderer. With this information, I can finally assess the enemy's strength clearly.

Shan Yinjiang expresses gratitude and begins to ponder deeply.(Affection +100, becomes Revered)

Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.

How to Succeed in AI Chat

Reset Dialogue When Stuck

If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.

Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins

Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.

If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.

Double-Check the Hint

Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
