How to Befriend Hai Changchong
Tell Crucial Information Regarding Kaifeng
Tel Hai Changchong that there are archers hiding in the trees and scouts in patrol that change their shift every 9 hours. After telling him of this information, tell him that you two will proceed at night so you can go to Kaifeng unseen.
Note that the AI's script isn't absolute and may change depending on your answer. For example, you can tell Hai Changchong to find a map with hidden paths and you can roleplay into giving it to him which can trigger into befriending him.

Note that AI conversations can be unpredictable and even with the same inputs, the same result is not necessarily guaranteed.
How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
