Martial Art

Path: Bamboocut - Wind

Path: Silkbind - Jade

Your main choice of Martial Arts are the Mortal Rope Dart and Vernal Umbrella. Both weapons have disables and ranged options that let them work together. Vernal Umbrella has a special skill that immobilizes enemies while Rope Dart gives knock down options from its charged attack, sustain, and pulls that can even be comboed with the Umbrella's immobilzation skill.

Best Inner Ways

Inner Ways Details
Morale Chant Icon Morale Chant
100% chance to gain one stack of Yi River when attacking or healing: Increases Physical Penetration by 2 and damage and healing by 1% for 12 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. The chance to gain Yi River is only calculated once every 2 seconds.
Blossom Barrage Icon Blossom Barrage
Vernal Umbrella's Martial Arts Skill Spring Sorrow can hold up to 2 stacks. Hitting a target applies the Combo effect: Increases Damage taken from the caster's Ballistic Skills by 10% for 10s. Affected Ballistic Skills include: Martial Arts Skill Let Spring Go, Special Skill Everbloom, Umbrella - Light Attack, and its Charged Skill Spring Away.
Vendetta Icon Vendetta
Bladebound Thread's Vendetta Token lasts 5 seconds longer and restores 20 Tokens of Gratitude.
Bitter Seasons Icon Bitter Seasons
When dealing damage, there is a 10% chance to apply a Poison effect for 5 seconds, dealing damage once per second. The Poison reduces target's Physical Defense by 0.6% for 10 seconds, stacking up to 5 times (duration refreshed upon stacking).

For a ranged kiting setup, these Inner Ways are picked to reward constant poke while making your control windows hit harder. Blossom Barrage upgrades Vernal Umbrella’s Spring Sorrow to give you more uptime and stronger follow-through by improving its Combo payoff and letting you hold more uses over time, so you are not forced to spend your best control tool the moment it comes up. Morale Chant stacks a short-duration buff from attacking or healing, and it becomes even stronger when the target is controlled, which fits perfectly since this build lands frequent immobilizes, pulls, and interrupts.

Bitter Seasons adds extra on-hit pressure through a stacking Poison that also lowers the enemy’s Physical Defense, making your repeated pokes and chip damage progressively more threatening in longer duels. Finally, Vendetta directly supports Mortal Rope Dart by extending Bladebound Thread’s token window and restoring Tokens of Gratitude, helping you keep your Rope Dart pressure and utility available more often while you kite and reset.

Mystic Arts Effects
Dragon Dragon's Breath
Drink to enter Intoxicated. Breath fire with Qi, dealing damage over 2 hits plus Ignition. Gain 15% Damage Reduction and Fortitude. Intoxicated: Lasts 30s. Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet can be used without drinking. Ignition: Target takes damage every 0.5s for 8s.
Drunken Poet Icon Drunken Poet
Drink deeply to enter the Intoxicated state, imitating the drunken grace of the Poet Immortal. Cast repeatedly for up to 5 strikes, each consuming 6 Vitality. Intoxicated: Lasts 30s. Dragon's Breath and Drunken Poet can be used without drinking.
Cloud Steps Icon Cloud Steps
Stomp on an enemy's shoulder to deal Physical Damage, other Attribute Damage effective against Cavalry and other units with Unstable Poise.
Soaring Spin Icon Soaring Spin
Channel your Qi into a roaring thrust, dealing damage to units along the path. Then suddenly shift stance into a spiraling follow-up strike that catches enemies off-guard. Hitting a target reduces their Healing Received by 60% over 5s.

These Mystic Arts are chosen to reinforce the build’s poke-and-control game plan while giving you a real threat window when needed. Dragon’s Breath applies Burn that steadily chips enemies, which can then be immediately converted into burst by casting Drunken Poet, turning sustained pressure into a sudden damage spike that forces defensive cooldowns or secures kills. Cloud Steps serves as your primary engage, chase, and reset tool, letting you stay on targets that try to kite or disengage and preserving uptime after Rope Dart pulls or Umbrella immobilizes.

Soaring Spin functions as both a mobility extender and pressure tool. It allows you to chase when opponents attempt to disengage from Umbrella poke, and in PvP it also applies healing reduction, which is especially valuable in extended duels. It gives you controlled aggression without sacrificing safety.

Alternative Mystic Arts for PvP

Mystic Arts Effects
Leaping Toad Icon Leaping Toad
Flip back to knock back and damage enemies, then lunge to apply Toad Venom. The third cast becomes Golden Toad Crash, a knockdown AoE slam. Toad Venom: Explodes after 5 seconds or on death. Can be Detonated by Lion's Roar.
Serene Breeze Icon Serene Breeze
Channel Qi into your body to clear blockages in the veins. Can be used while under attack or control effects. On hit, reduces the target's Endurance recovery by 50% and deals damage for 8s.
Wolflike Frenzy Icon Wolflike Frenzy
Knock down an enemy, followed with rapid strikes, and finish with an upward swing that disables the target. Effective against Cavalry and other units with Unstable Poise. Unstable Poise: These units have a Stance bar near their HP. Stance-break deals special hit and Physical damage.

In PvP, Serene Breeze is often a priority pick due to its ability to cleanse crowd control and immediately halt enemy combo chains. This provides a crucial reset window, allowing players to reposition safely and reclaim momentum in fights where spacing determines survival.

Leaping Toad serves as a disruption tool, offering knockback and knockdown utility that helps manage distance and interrupt aggressive pushes. On the offensive side, Wolflike Frenzy supplies burst potential while granting Super Armor, enabling continued pressure even when facing counterattacks.

Mortal Rope Dart and Vernal Umbrella Set Gear and Stat Priorities

Set Gear

Stat Group Recommended Substats
Swallowcall Icon Swallowcall

Weapon
2 Set Effect: +27 Min Physical Attack
4 Set Effect: Light Attacks deal 15% more damage against targets with less than 40% Qi and 5% more damage against Exhausted targets.
Calmwaters Icon Calmwaters

Armor
2 Set Effect: +13 Physical Defense
4 Set Effect: A Perfect Dodge of an enemy attack has a 50% chance of restoring 3% of your Max HP and 10 Endurance.

Swallowcall works well for this build because it strengthens consistent poke and rewards you for pressuring enemy Qi. Since Mortal Rope Dart and Vernal Umbrella both focus on mid-range control and chip damage, Swallowcall enhances your ability to deal steady Light Attack damage and capitalize once enemies are pushed into vulnerable states. It fits perfectly with a playstyle that whittles opponents down before committing to a finishing sequence.

Calmwaters complements the build’s kiting identity by improving survivability and sustain during extended fights. Because this setup relies heavily on spacing, repositioning, and dodging rather than face-tanking trades, Calmwaters supports that rhythm by helping you stay healthy and maintain endurance for repeated disengages.

Stat Priority

1st Agility
2nd Min Silkbind Attack
3rd Min Bamboocut Attack
4th Min/Max Physical Attack
5th Critical Rate

These stat priorities directly enhance the Mortal Rope Dart and Vernal Umbrella kit by strengthening both consistency and sustained pressure. Agility improves your overall damage floor and crit potential, making your repeated pokes and light strings more reliable in PvP. Min Silkbind Attack boosts Umbrella-based skills like Spring Away and other ranged pressure tools, ensuring your aerial and immobilize setups hit harder.

Min Bamboocut Attack enhances Rope Dart abilities such as Bladebound Thread and Rodent-based follow-ups, reinforcing your control-to-damage conversion. Min/Max Physical Attack supports all hits across both weapons, keeping your chip damage meaningful throughout extended trades, while Critical Rate rounds out the build by adding extra spike potential to your steady pressure.

Recommended Skill Rotation

  1. Use Rodent's Resilience (hold) to enter Charging Stance, gain Tenacity, and prepare the enhanced Rodent Rampage depending on charge duration.
  2. Follow it up with Spring Sorrow to immobilize the target and create a safe setup window. It also debuffs enemies to do more damage with your ranged attacks.
  3. Use Spring Away (Charged Light) to go airborne and apply spinning projectile pressure while building Blossom.
  4. Follow it up with Unfading Flower to deploy the umbrella so it continues auto-firing in the background.
  5. Weapon-switch with your Dual-Weapon Skill to transition smoothly into Rope Dart pressure.
  6. Use Bladebound Thread, then animation cancel after the first hit to apply the debuff.
  7. Follow it up with Rodent Rampage to summon the rodent and activate coordinated strikes.
  8. Use Light Attacks until Rodent Rampage ends to maximize rodent procs and sustained chip damage.
  9. Weapon-switch again with your Dual-Weapon Skill to reposition and reset spacing.
  10. Repeat once Spring Sorrow and your Umbrella tools are available.

Use Vernal Umbrella's Charged Light Attack to Fight From Afar

Once enemies are outside the rope dart's range, focus on using the umbrella and its charged light attack to hit enemies from afar by floating. This gives you a good damage source without putting yourself near danger.

PvP Tips and Tricks

In PvP, this build thrives on unpredictable weapon swaps and layered pressure. Constantly rotate between Mortal Rope Dart and Vernal Umbrella when your opponent least expects it, forcing them to react to different threat ranges and control tools.

  • Because this combination is rarely used, many players will struggle to read your patterns or anticipate your pull-into-poke flow, which gives you a natural edge.
  • While achieving your full setup every time is unrealistic in PvP fights, landing Vernal Umbrella’s immobilize is the key damage window, letting you safely transition into Rope Dart pressure and convert control into meaningful burst before resetting and repeating the cycle.
  • Use Drunken Poet before initiating combat. Starting an engagement with active buffs allows you to control the pace of the fight rather than being forced into a reactive position.
  • Animation cancel Dragon’s Breath to secure its benefits immediately while minimizing exposure to counterattacks.
  • Activate Serene Breeze to cleanse crowd control and interrupt enemy combo chains, creating an opportunity to reset spacing and regain control.
  • When facing against other Vernal Umbrella users, patiently parry their Spring Away projectiles or use Cloud Steps to close distance and pressure them into close-range exchanges.
  • Avoid using Cloud Steps strictly as an engagement tool. Reserve it when necessary for repositioning, disengaging, or correcting spacing mistakes.
  • After securing an execution, chain Dragon’s Breath → Drunken Poet, incorporating animation cancels where appropriate to maintain offensive momentum.
  • Deploy Wolflike Frenzy either as a burst option for quick damage or defensively between enemy attacks to capitalize on its Super Armor and prevent interruption.
