How to Befriend Chai Bakun
Convince Him to Protect General's Shrine
Chai Bakun wants to protect the General's Shrine and the easiest way to befriend him is to convince him you will protect the shrine alongside him. Convince him that you have the skills to properly safeguard the shrine.

 (eyes narrowing as he studies intently, voice firm) Wanderer, this is the General's Shrine. What business brings you here? |
 I want to protect the General's Shrine with my martial arts prowess alongside you. |
| (shaking his head, expression hardens) Wanderer, I appreciate your offer, but the shrine has been my responsibility for many years. I cannot entrust its safety to just anyone. Why do you wish to involve yourself in this? |
| I wish to be of service to the General's Shrine as I have massive respect to its legacy. Please let me assist you on your mission. |
| (nodding slowly, cyes still wary) I see. Respect is commendable, but the shrine's protection requires more than just good intentions. Tell me, have you noticed anything unusual around here recently? |
| I notice a recent surge of bandits lurking around and I want to stop them with you |
| (gripping his axe tightly, nodding) Bandits, you say? That could be trouble. If you truly wish to help, then show me what you can do. We'll patrol together and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity. But remember, I'm watching you too. |
| I understand your concern. Worry not, as I will prove to you that I can be useful and will put the shrine's safety first. |
| (nodding solemnly, tone softens) Thank you, Wanderer. Chai will surely remember this in his heart. If you need anything in the future, feel free to ask. Chai Bakun expresses gratitude and begins to ponder deeply. (Affection +100, becomes Revered) |

How to Succeed in AI Chat
Reset Dialogue When Stuck
If your conversation has gone off the rails, or doesn't end no matter what you say, it's best to simply reset and start anew from a clean slate by clicking the button with a Refresh icon at the top of the chat box. Instead of trying several methods within one conversation, trying one strategy at a time and refreshing if it doesn't go anywhere is generally more effective.
Return to Login Screen if Combat Begins
Sometimes, NPCs will suddenly become violent during AI dialogues. When this happens, it's best to just bail out to the login screen; when you return, the NPC will be found just as they were before the conversation started.
If you accidentally kill a dialogue-capable NPC, our experience has shown that they will respawn, but this has not been heavily tested, so it's best to simply avoid engaging them in combat.
Double-Check the Hint
Even if the NPC appears to be happy with the result of your discussion, this won't always end the dialogue. Double-checking the text written in the hint will imply the win condition, so try strategies which will lead the dialogue towards that result.
