Coffin Master Best Companion
The best companion to summon for Coffin Master is Yi Dao. Because Coffin Master is a rather slow boss, you can simply punish it with attacks alongside Yi Dao. His ability to tank hits allows him to deliver a constant offensive barrage that quickly whittles down Coffin Master's Qi as well as HP.

Focus on the Large Arm for Better Parry Timing
Coffin Master primarily fights with the large arm wielding the sword. Pay attention to parrying the arm as it performs the bulk of Coffin Master's moveset with its slashes, sweeps, and slams. In its second phase, Coffin Master will begin to use the coffin more frequently, which can catch you off-guard.
Parry the 7-hit Combo to Deplete Chunks of Qi
It is recommended to parry Coffin Master's charged 7-hit combo as parrying all slashes rewards you with depleting huge chunks of Qi. Parrying all hits is guaranteed to stun Coffin Master with half of its Qi gone. This is crucial in its second phase when Coffin Master begins to regenerate Qi.
Dodge Through the Combo to Evade It
If you cannot reliably parry the combo, you can dodge through it as Coffin Master zips past you to deliver the combo, which cannot reach you from afar. This is a decent strategy in its first phase, but you are better off parrying the combo to undo its Qi regeneration in Phase 2.
Keep Parrying Combos in Phase 2 to Stall Qi Regeneration
Because Coffin Master begins to regenerate Qi in Phase 2, you need to stay close to Coffin Master to parry all of its attacks to quickly exhaust it, allowing you to take out chunks of its HP with Executions. Coffin Master deploys more combos in Phase 2, giving you the chance to parry more consistently.
Dodge the Unblockable Attack After the Audio Cue
Coffin Master's yellow-glinted unblockable attack only appears in its second phase where it is an overhead slash. Dodge out of the way immediately after you hear the sword stab the ground, then seize the opportunity to deal damage to Coffin Master while time is slowed.
Beat the Boss in its Second Phase After It Revives
After depleting Coffin Master's HP bar, you will get the “Triumphant” pop-up that normally shows after you beat a boss. Coffin Master will revive, however, and you must beat it in its second phase to win the fight.

| Sweeping Lunge | Coffin Master drags its sword across the ground and lunges toward you with a swipe. Parry the sword just before it lifts off the ground. |
| Stomp to Overhead Slash | Coffin Master performs a stomp and leaps into the air with an overhead slash. The stomp's short reach allows you to stay back and avoid it, but parry the overhead slash just before the sword makes contact. Note that the slash after the stomp can be a punch instead. |
| Stomp to Punch | Coffin Master performs a stomp and closes the distance to punch you. The stomp can be avoided, but parry its follow-up punch after it runs toward you. |
| Sweeping Slash to Overhead Slam | Coffin Master performs a double slash by spinning around, then jumps up to land an overhead slam. Prepare to parry the slashes when Coffin Master dashes toward you. |
| Delayed Double Slash | Coffin Master slashes you once then switches its grip on the sword to make a second slash. The tip here is to parry immediately after the arm switches its grip. |
| Swipe to Double Slash | Coffin Master swipes at you then performs a slash immediately after, followed by a second slash. It is possible to stay out of the way of the punch, but if you are too close to Coffin Master, you need to parry twice in quick succession to deflect the punch and the first slash. |
| Backstep Slash | Coffin Master performs a slow slash and steps back a bit. Keep an eye on the sword's slow wind-up then parry when the arm snaps forward. |
| Sword Whip | Coffin Master performs a fast slash in a whip-like sweep. The parry timing of this move is tricky as it moves quickly, but keep an eye on the arm as it appears to make a circular motion above Coffin Master's head. |
| Sidestep Low Slash | Coffin Master spins aside and performs a low sweeping slash. Parry the slash just as Coffin Master spins back to face you. If you are far away, you can just stay back to evade it. |
| Sidestep Overhead Slash | Coffin Master spins aside in a sidestep to deliver an overhead slash. Parry it after the spin. |
| Vertical Sword Slam | Coffin Master raises its sword and performs a quick slam onto the ground. Watch out for the arm when it is raised vertically, then parry it as it comes down. Otherwise, you can step away from its right arm (your left) to narrowly avoid the slam. |
| Sword Charge | After pausing to charge up its attack, Coffin Master charges at you and performs a 7-hit combo. Parry the first slash when you see the burst of purple mist. Note the delay after the 2nd and 6th slashes. It is also possible to dodge it before the first slash lands. |
| Skyward Slash | This is Coffin Master's blockable move. After its sword skids on the ground, press the parry button to block it. |
| Swipe | Coffin Master swipes at you when you are up close. Watch out for Coffin Master's normal raised arm then parry it. |
| Side Kick | Coffin Master stands on one leg, raising the coffin on its shoulder, to perform a side kick. |

| Coffin Slam to Double Slash | Coffin Master slams its coffin and delivers two sword slashes. Parry the slam when Coffin Master lands, then parry the first slash after the arm moves counter-clockwise. Parry the second slash after the arm pauses then snaps back at you. |
| Delayed Double Slash to Coffin Slam | This is a variation of the delayed double slash with a red-glinted coffin slam added at the end. Wait for Coffin Master to bring down the coffin before parrying. |
| Coffin Slam to Triple Sword Slash | Coffin Master performs an overhead coffin slam followed by three sweeping sword slashes. Parry the moment Coffin Master lands on the ground. Parry the first slash after Coffin Master pauses while lifting the coffin, then parry the next slash immediately after. After another pause, parry the third slash. |
| Overhead Sword Slam | This is the unblockable variant of Coffin Master's overhead sword slams. To accurately dodge the move, pay attention to the audio cue of the sword stabbing the ground. After hearing it, immediately dodge out of the way. |
| Qi-Regenerating Sword Charge | Coffin Master restores its Qi before performing the 7-hit combo from its first phase. Its Qi regeneration cannot be interrupted, but successfully parrying the combo depletes a huge chunk of its Qi. Successfully parrying the combo rewards you with the Blade Break Master achievement. |
| Death's Chain | Coffin Master momentarily lifts its coffin and performs a combo with sword slashes and coffin slams. The parry timing of the double sword slash after the third coffin slam requires you to parry twice in quick succession. Successfully parrying the entire combo briefly stuns Coffin Master and rewards you with the Death's Chain Denied achievement. |
