You do not need to hand in the 8 bowls to get revered. I just went through the dialogue options initially, I can' t recall what I said, just stuff like ok, and agreed once with him. I left then came back and opened dialogue and said I am working on it, when he asked about the bowls, and he then went to revered, lol
