Taiyi Stones are used to reforge certain gold-tier weapon skins to alter their appearances for cosmetic purposes. Learn more about how to use Taiyi Stones and where to get them here in this guide.
Taiyi Stones are special currency used to reforge gold-tier weapon skins purchased from the Draw Shop. Reforging is the process of changing the appearance of the weapon skin without actually improving on the weapon's stats.
Meaning to say, Taiyi Stones are only used for cosmetic purposes and have no bearing on your build's offensive capabilities. To improve your build's stats, you need to tune your gear instead.

You first need to acquire the base appearance of a weapon skin from the Draw Shop before you can reforge it. To purchase a weapon skin, you need 1 Harmonic Core, which you obtain by spending more than 131 Lingering Echoes in the Celestial Echo draw.
Note that you only purchase the base appearance as you need to reforge it to create its unique appearance. Additionally, reforging is only available for some gold-tier weapon skins.
Go to your character's Appearance menu and scroll to the Weapons tab to access the weapon skin. After selecting Reforge, you will be taken to a screen where you need to fill up a meter with five notches to obtain a random skin for each part of the weapon. This is where you need to spend Taiyi Stones to fill up the meter.
It takes about 120 Taiyi Stones to fully unlock all notches, so you need to spend about 30 Taiyi Stones to unlock each one.
The second, third, and fourth notches of a weapon skin correspond with the different parts of a weapon, such as the sword's hilt or a spear's shaft. While the names of the parts vary depending on the weapon, all weapons share the first Color and fifth Bright Light notches.
Both these notches give color to the weapon skin and the aura surrounding it. Like with the other notches, the colors are randomized.

If you check the preview for a weapon skin in the Draw Shop, you will see that there are different variations of a weapon skin you can get. Because obtaining each skin part for the weapon is randomized, it is highly likely that you will opt to reroll to get your preferred set appearance.
In this case, you need to accumulate more Taiyi Stones again until you are satisfied with the outcome of the weapon skin. Otherwise, you can keep your weapon skin as it is without adhering to a set appearance.
If you manage to obtain the skin you want for a weapon part, you can lock its notch to save its appearance as you roll for the skins in the other notches. You should note that locking a notch increases the cost of Taiyi Stones the next time you hit the reforge button.
The reforging menu has a Saved Optimal Plan panel that autosaves your five most optimal plans based on the highest number of Elegance Points. It is highly recommended to refer to this panel to monitor the skins you want to keep on your weapon as you roll. This way, you minimize overspending as switching between plans does not reset the meter's progress.
You can also choose to manually save your plan of choice, but you are only reserved one save to do this. Otherwise, you have to overwrite your plan with the new one.

Taiyi Stones can be purchased from the Shop under Items for 200 Echo Beads. This is the fastest way of accumulating Taiyi Stones as you can purchase as many as you want with the game's top-up system and reforge your weapon skin as soon as possible.

Alternatively, you can buy Taiyi Stones for 45 Essence of Heaven from the Draw Shop. To earn Essences of Heaven, you need to draw from the Celestial Echo gacha, where you earn 1 Essence of Heaven per pull. In turn, you need to accumulate as many Lingering Echoes as you can to make several pulls.
This is the most tedious method of purchasing Taiyi Stones if you choose to save Lingering Echoes without topping up.
