How to Get Chess Manuals
Get the First Chess Manual From Wang Dayan

Chess Manuals are obtained by reaching certain Affection Levels with Chess NPCs. The first one can be obtained from Wang Dayan in Heaven's Pier.
You can get the Momentum Follower Chess Manual from Wang Dayan by reaching the Revered Affection Level with him. This is easily achieved by playing Chess Games with him.
It is important to note that this item and the other Chess Manuals are actually called Game of Go - Knowledge in-game, and they do not appear in your inventory.

There are more Chess Manuals that you can obtain by reaching certain Affection Levels with other Chess NPCs. Alternatively, you can also give gifts to these NPCs to increase Affection faster.
You will need up to three Chess Manuals to challenge Ye Buxiu, the Chess NPC north of Blissful Retreat, at the highest difficulty.

Challenge Harder Chess Opponents
Chess Manuals allow you to challenge stronger Chess NPCs in the game. These NPCs require at least one Chess Manual to face them, with higher stakes of Commerce Coins.

Challenge Ye Buxiu's Daily Chess Games

Ye Buxiu is a Chess NPC that you can challenge at varying difficulties. He requires up to three Chess Manuals at the highest difficulty. You can either find him in Blissful Retreat or Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat.
The highest difficulty offers the biggest stakes, with a participation cost of 150 Commerce Coins and a reward of 300 Commerce Coins. You can only claim these rewards three times per day.
Get to Dreamscape: Blissful Retreat by Touching the Sword at Blissful Retreat
If you do not find Ye Buxiu in Blissful Retreat, you can find him in the Dreamscape version by interacting with the sword next to the tree near the burned tower at Blissful Retreat. Doing this will take you to a new, but smaller, region and start the Dream in Flames quest.
You can teleport out of this region by selecting the map icon on the bottom-left of the Map Menu to view the other region maps.
