The best companion to bring with against Puppeteer - Curtaincall would be Elder Gongsun due to his ability to stagger and knock down enemies for crowd control. He can stun-lock the Puppeteer with ease, giving you huge openings for burst damage and a chance to recover your health.
Take note to Companions will not survive the Puppet Show segment of Puppeteer's second phase since they cannot defend himself from the Shadow attacks and Puppet Soldiers.

You can encounter the Puppeteer - Curtaincall World Boss in a small island at the northwest border of Sundara Land in the Qinghe region.

Initially, Puppeteer - Curtaincall has a simple moveset in his first phase, where you will need to parry his glaive attacks until you whittle down his Qi bar and exhaust him. We recommend attacking after his glaive combos and then going back to focus on parrying until you reach his 2nd phase.
Once you reach the 2nd phase, he will jump into the air and create a Puppet Show with a top-down perspective where he attacks as a shadow while also summoning Puppet Soldiers throughout the field.
To end this phase, you must parry the Puppeteer shadow attacks until you exhaust him, and focus on dodging his Puppet Soldiers as their attacks are all unblockable.

Puppet Formation Breaker summons rows of puppets that will later fire deadly line attacks, leaving only narrow safe gaps.
In the first version of this mechanic, the puppets appear on one side of the arena. Your team must quickly destroy a single puppet to create a safe lane before the lines fire.
In the later version, puppets spawn on both sides of the arena at the same time. You must destroy one puppet on each side to create survivable lanes. Split the team immediately so both sides are handled simultaneously. Failing to open safe gaps on both sides makes the follow-up nearly impossible to dodge and often results in instant deaths.
During String Manipulator, three puppets descend suspended by spinning strings. They cannot be properly damaged while tethered, so attacking them immediately is inefficient.
Jump and use a light attack to sever the strings first, then burst them down quickly. Delaying the string cut reduces your kill window and increases the damage of the boss’s follow-up AoE.
The Shadow Puppeteer punishes greed more than most bosses. Nearly every mechanic escalates if ignored.
Always resolve mechanics first, then return to damage. Players who try to finish casts instead of reacting are the first to fall.
In the final stretch of the fight, the Shadow Puppeteer enters an accelerated cycle where all previous mechanics return faster and with heavier overlap. Expect more puppet lines, more red circle summons, and tighter timing windows between abilities.

| Shock | Shock immobilizes a random player and places a long red line AoE targeting them. The marked player cannot move and will take heavy damage if the mechanic is not handled correctly. If you have a stun break such as Serene Breeze, use it immediately and move out of the line. If not, teammates must stand inside the red line and parry the incoming strikes to protect and free the pinned player. Failure to react quickly almost always results in lethal damage for the marked target. |
| Puppet - Formation Breaker | Puppet Formation Breaker summons multiple puppets in straight lines along the edges of the arena. After a short delay, they fire deadly line AoEs that one shot anyone caught in them, leaving only narrow safe gaps. Quickly select one puppet and destroy it with your team to create a safe lane |
| String Manipulator | String Manipulator begins when the arena lights up and the boss jumps to the center and a large yellow AoE appears. Shortly after, three players are marked with yellow circles under their feet. Spread out immediately so the markers do not overlap, then get ready for the hanging puppets that follow. Jump and use a light attack to sever the strings, then immediately swap to killing the fallen puppets. |
| Puppet - Formation Breaker (Enraged) | Later in the battle, the Shadow Puppeteer calls upon his Puppet Formation Breaker once more, summoning rows of puppets along both sides of the arena. After a short delay, they unleash deadly line AoEs that will one shot anyone caught without a safe gap. Your team must destroy one puppet on each side to create survivable lanes. Split into two groups and assign targets immediately so both sides are handled at the same time. If only one side is cleared, the opposite side will leave no safe space and result in instant deaths. |
| Puppet Cavalry | Straight red lines appear across the arena to signal incoming linear strikes. These attacks are fast and often chained with other mechanics, making them dangerous if you hesitate. These lines can overlap, and when they do, the damage stacks and becomes lethal. Move out immediately instead of trying to react late. |
