This is a non-meta build utilizing Meowth's movement speed buff from its passive. Pay Day will be central to this build to give Meowth a consistent flow of coins to pick up. As for the other move, it will be based on your preference.

|
Charging Charm increases Meowth's Attack and movement speed, and allows it to deal more damage when the item is fully charged. |
Accel Bracer

Accel Bracer improves Meowth's Attack stat by a significant amount when it knocks out opponents or gets an assist. |
| Item | Explanation |
|---|---|
X Speed
|
X Speed makes Meowth more slippery during fights. |
| Move | Explanation |
|---|---|
Pay Day
|
Pay Day allows Meowth to generate more coins to pick up and trigger its passive's movement speed bonus. |
Feint Attack
|
Feint Attack makes Meowth's next basic attack into a boosted attack, allowing the Pokemon to generate more coins to pick up. |
This moveset fully utilizes Pickup's movement speed buff when picking up coins.
Pay Day gives Meowth a decent damage tool, which is also great for poking opponents from range. It also allows Meowth to consistently generate coins to pick up and trigger its passive's movement speed bonus.
Feint Attack, on the other hand, is a good burst-damage move and enables Meowth to stay on top of its target. It also indirectly allows Meowth to generate a coin by turning its basic attack into a boosted attack after using the move.
Let us know why in the comments!
Meowth's passive is what makes the Pokemon unique and is also central to its gameplay.
Pickup: Meowth Passive Effect and Cooldown
When Meowth attacks opponents, it steals their battle item, and if the target is a wild Pokemon, it steals a random battle item.
This effect allows Meowth to be a bit more flexible in matches since apart from having an initial battle item equipped, it can target specific opponents and steal their battle item, which can be useful in certain situations.
Remember that you can see your opponents' battle items during the loading screen before the start of each match, so it's best to take note of them.
When Meowth picks up a gold coin, its movement speed is increased for a duration. This effect makes Meowth hard to catch, especially when triggered consistently.
If you want to fully utilize this effect, pick Pay Day and Feint Attack as Meowth's primary moveset since those moves allow the Pokemon to quickly generate coins.
When Meowth hits a target with Pay Day, a coin drops beside it. On the other hand, when Meowth uses Feint Attack, its next basic attack becomes a boosted attack, and when the Pokemon hits opponents with a boosted attack, it also drops a coin beside them.
These two moves allow Meowth to consistently create coins to pick up and trigger its passive's movement speed bonus.
Although you can select any move combination you want, it's best to always pair Pay Day and Feint Attack together.

Fury Swipes and Assurance have a special synergy. Since Assurance deals double damage only to opponents that have been attacked by Meowth five or more times and its HP recovery effect is relative to that number, Fury Swipes multiple attacks allows Meowth to easily trigger it.
It's important to take note that the number of attacks (up to a maximum of 5) Meowth does when using Fury Swipes is based on the number of times it has recently dealt damage to opposing Pokemon. This means that you can quickly do five (5) attacks in one use and deal double damage with Assurance as a follow up.

Assurance
|
Gold Coin Barrage has Meowth throw a barrage of coins at the target. If there are enemies in the path of the coins, the coin will hit them instead of the initial target.
You can have some control over whether you want to hit the initial target or another one by moving around during the move.
Additionally, when a coin hits a target, it will drop beside them, so it's best to also pick them up for the movement speed boost.
Gold Coin Barrage: Meowth Move Effect and Cooldown
| Pay Day Combo | |
|---|---|
|
Start by using one charge of Pay Day to damage the target. Then use Feint Attack and immediately follow up with a boosted attack to generate another coin. Finish the combo with another charge of Pay Day. You can do this combo in any order if you want. The goal of this combo is to quick create coins for Meowth to pick up. | |
| Fury Swipes Combo | |
|---|---|
|
This combo is a way to properly set up Assurance's double damage effect. Initiate with Fury Swipes, then immediately follow up with Assurance. Before starting the actual combo, make sure you've recently damaged opponents five (5) times to ensure that Fury Swipes does five (5) attacks and set up Assurance's double damage effect. You can also just use Gold Cold Barrage first then follow up with Fury Swipes and Assurance. | |
