Custom Battles replaced Friendly Matches as part of the 1.4.1.2 Update. They are similar to the Tournament Mode but has no custom rules feature.
Players can choose from all maps from other game modes, allowing them to create 5v5, 4v4, or 3v3 matches. The Quick Battle maps in Custom Battle do not go on a rotation and are always available for players to play in.
Custom Battles also allow players to add bots as allies and enemies. You can be more dynamic on how you want the teams to be. For example, you could have 3 players and 2 bots on each team, making it a 5v5 match consisting of 3 people and 2 bots.
