Build Explanation |
---|
This build takes advantage of Delphox's arsenal of Area of Effect moves to deal damage across a wide area. Both Fire Blast and Fire Spin offer consistent damage while also having decent enough range for Delphox to use them at the backlines during fights. |
· Choice Specs provides Delphox with a decent amount of Sp. Atk. and increases its moves' minimum damage. · Slick Spoon gives Delphox more Sp. Atk. stat and additional HP. It also gives the Pokemon the ability to ignore a portion of its target's Sp. Def. · Energy Amplifier increases Delphox's damage further whenever it uses Fanciful Fireworks. It also reduces the cooldown of its moves. · However, Wise Glasses can be a replacement for Slick Spoon, giving Delphox more Sp. Atk. · Eject Button gives Delphox mobility to reposition when needed. · X Speed can also work just as well for the same purpose. · The build's Boost Emblem loadout should consist of 7 Black Emblems for some move cooldown reduction and 6 Green Emblem to maximize its damage. · Equip Emblems that improve Sp. Atk. to further improve Delphox's move damage. · Attack, Critical-Hit Rate, Sp. Def., and Defense can be freely traded for the other stats. |

Since the build is centered on Fire Blast and Fire Spin, equipping items that will maximize their damage output is the ideal item combination.
As the results show, Choice Specs, Slick Spoon, and Energy Amplifier will generate the best results. However, Delphox needs to activate its Unite Move first to maximize its damage.
As for alternatives, replacing Slick Spoon with Wise Glasses would be the best option. The item combination produced the second best results for items that don't require stacking.

Build Explanation |
---|
This build utilizes the mobility from Flame Charge and the burst damage from Mystical Fire. Once Mystical Fire is upgraded, Delphox will be able to utilize the move's cooldown reduction mechanic to consistenly use Flame Charge, improving the Pokemon's mobility further. It's best used in the jungle, but it will still do fine in the top or bottom lane. |
· However, Shell Bell can be a replacement for Slick Spoon, giving Delphox more cooldown reduction and a healing mechanic. · Eject Button gives Delphox extra mobility on top of Flame Charge, allowing it to move more freely. |

As for alternatives, replacing Slick Spoon with Shell Bell would be the ideal choice. Although the item combination did not produce the best damage results, the extra cooldown reductions from Energy Amplifier and Shell Bell allows Delphox to keep spamming its moves, resulting to more damage in the long run. Moreover, the healing from Shell Bell is also benefitial for the Pokemon.

Sp. Atk. Specs is a decent alternative to Choice Specs and/or Wise Glasses, giving a higher Sp. Atk. boost when fully stacked. However, it does require Delphox to score early on to maximize its effect. |
![]() |
Energy Amplifier improves Delphox's Unite Moves' already-fast recharge rate. It also acts as another layer of damage increase after using its Unite Move. |
![]() |
Wise Glasses further improves Delphox Sp. Atk. stat via a flat amount and a percentage-based increase. |
![]() |
Shell Bell gives Delphox a decent Sp. Atk. boost with healing and cooldown reduction as bonuses. It's also an alternative to Choice Specs and/or Wise Glasses. |
![]() |
Choice Specs gives a high Sp. Atk. stat to Delphox and improves its moves' burst damage. |
![]() |
Slick Spoon increases Delphox's damage output by ignoring a portion its target's Sp. Def. stat, especially against high durability Pokemon. It also provides increased Sp. Atk. and HP, which are essential to the Pokemon. |

Fire Spin gives Delphox a reliable and strong disabling tool that is useful in fights. |
Choosing a moveset for Delphox depends on whether you want to deal area damage from the backlines, or be more aggressive and mobile as a single-target assassin. If you prefer to be a backline caster with AoE, choose Fire Blast and Fire Spin. if you want to be more of a single-target assassin, opt for Mystical Fire and Flame Charge.

During the early game, take advantage of Delphox's long-ranged initial moveset to steal and secure Wild Pokemon. Will-O-Wisp, in particular, has high burst damage that can easily contest Wild Pokemon camps while also potentially dealing AoE damage to the nearest opponent Doing this will keep your EXP gain in pace to reach level 7 before the first objectives spawn.
Will-O-Wisp: Delphox Move Effect and Cooldown
Fire Spin can deal damage and stun multiple enemies caught in the vortex. Additionally, it has a seek mechanic, where the vortex moves towards an enemy if it is close enough to it. This essentially turns the move into a somewhat sure-hit move that can chase down and catch multiple opponents, causing mass stuns in the affected area.
Fire Spin: Delphox Move Effect and Cooldown
Fire Spin has enough range for you to activate it from a safe spot. One tactic you can do is to deploy near enemy goal zones, which will disrupt opponents from defending properly and allow your team to strike them down while they are stunned in place.
Because of its seeking mechanic, you can throw the move at the back of the line where the enemy Attackers reside. This will force them to let go of their position just to avoid the attack.
Once upgraded at level 11, Mystical Fire reduces all your move cooldowns by 1 to 2 seconds when it hits an enemy. This allows you to consistently bombard opponents with attacks to pressure or knock them down. Take note, however, that the cooldown reduction only activates whenthe move hits a target. Make sure to stun the target in place with Fire Spin or get close with Flame Charge first so you can get a clear shot and start chaining attacks.
Mystical Fire: Delphox Move Effect and Cooldown
Not only does Fanciful Fireworks deal continuous damage caught in the area of effect, it also decreases enemy movement speed and weakens healing received by the opposing Pokemon.
Fanciful Fireworks: Delphox Move Effect and Cooldown
Fanciful Fireworks affects a wide area, pressuring multiple opponents with continous damage. The move is similar to Trevenant's UNITE move, Phantom Forest, in which the move should be used pre-emptively before a clash happens. This way, your team can take advantage of the debuffs inflicted on the enemy team. A good place to use the move is at heavily contested are like the Rayquaza area in the middle of the battlefield.
Fanciful Firework's healing debuff is strong enough to mitigate the HP recovery given by enemy goal zones. Use this to effectively push lanes, particularly when your team is doing a last push during the final stretch of the match.
Level | Objectives |
---|---|
1 - 4 |
• Utilize your long-ranged moves to poke or pressure enemies from afar, but do not engage in a full-on fight until yet, unless the opponent over-extends. • Start roaming the map and securing Wild Pokemon spawns for EXP once you have reached level 5 and learned either Mystical Fire or Fire Blast. • Only fight opponents near an allied goal zone or a teammate to increase your chance of survival. |
5 - 8 |
• Once you reach level 7, you can now get aggressive when facing opponents. It is still best to maintain distance as much as possible, regardless of playstyle. • Help secure Regieleki and/or Regice, Registeel, or Regirock. When the opposing team is present, focus your attention on knocking them down first before attacking the objective. |
9+ |
• Once you reach level 9 and get Fanciful Fireworks, stick with your team and use it to get kills and secure objectives. It is best to use the move when pushing for goal zones to cut off the enemy team's healing. • Try to reach at least level 11 when or before Rayquaza spawns for an upgraded move, especially when you're using Mystical Fire. • Unleash all your moves to win a team fight and secure Rayquaza or help your team take it down quickly. |
Level | Objectives |
---|---|
1 - 5 | • Clear the first wave of jungle camps and reach level 5 to learn your damage move. • transition to a lane and help your allies by securing Altaria and Swablus, and, if possible, getting kills and scoring points |
6 - 9 | • Clear the second wave of jungle camps to reach at least **level 7. • Once you have your primary moveset, transition to a lane to help secure objectives. It is recommended that you help secure the top lane objective first to get a score advantage. Otherwise, help the bottom lane while you wait for Regice, Registeel, or Regirock for extra combat effects and EXP. If possible, try to reach level 9 and get Fanciful Fireworks to make securing objectives easier. |
10+ | • Continue to farm wild Pokemon, secure objectives, and hunt targets • Try to level up to at least level 13 before or when Rayquaza spawns • Unleash all your moves to win a team fight and secure Rayquaza or help your team take it down quickly |

Reliant on Moves |
---|
How to Beat |
• Utilize your long-ranged moves to chip away their HP, then go in for the finishing blow when it is low enough. • Use Fanciful Fireworks on their position to force them to flee. • Dodge their moves using Flame Charge. |
Sp. Attackers |
---|
How to Beat |
• Since these Pokemon have low Sp. Defense, burst them down with a Fire Spin + Mystical Fire. • Take advantage of their lack of mobility by maneuvering around them with Flame Charge. |
Pokemon that Channel their Moves |
---|
How to Beat |
• Bait out and dodge their attacks with Flame Charge • Cancel their moves with Fire Spin • Pressure their HP with either a Fire Blast or Mystical Fire before they can get close to you. |
Slippery Defender |
---|
How to Beat |
• Close any distance between you and them with Flame Charge. • Do not engage head-on if you do not have your move upgrades yet. • Use Fire Blast for a better chance of landing damage. |
High-durability Pokemon |
---|
How to Beat |

Physical Damage Dealers |
Melee or ranged physical damage dealers can benefit from Delphox's long-ranged disables and burst damage moves, making easier for them to take out targets. Delphox can help set up moves like Wicked Blow and Night Slash, which are moves that require proper positioning, ensuring that they deal their maximum damage potential. | |

Disablers |
Pokemon with an arsenal of disabling moves has great synergy with Delphox's kit. Moves like Heavy Bomb and Thunderbolt can be used as a follow up or a setup for Delphox's own disabling moves, keeping enemies stunned for a considerable amount of time. Moreover, their disables can also keep enemies inside Fanciful Fireworks longer, which is extremely effective during clashes. | |
![]() ![]() ![]() |
High Sustain |
Delphox can also work well with Pokemon that can constantly heal themselves in the frontlines with moves like Giga Drain and Triple Axel or passive abilities like Natural Care. They can dive into the frontlines, sustain HP, and deal damage while Delphox provides disables and additional firepower from a safe distance. |
