Critical Hits are increased damage dealt by Pokemon attacks in Pokemon UNITE for the Nintendo Switch and Mobile. Read on to what critical hits are and how to increase your Pokemon's critical hit rate!
List of Contents
Critical Hits are the bonus damage added to your attack when you land a critical hit. When you land a critical hit, the damage dealt will be doubled.
Critical Hit Rate is the likelihood that a critical hit will land. The higher your Pokemon's Critical Hit Rate, the more you will constantly land critical hits.
Increase Critical Hit Chance |
---|
Equip Held Items |
Item | Effect |
---|---|
Scope Lens |
Critical Hit Rate +6% Critical Hit Damage +12% Increases damage dealt by basic attack critical hits. The higher the Pokemon's Attack, the more the damage increases. |
Razor Claw |
Attack +15 Critical-Hit Rate +2.1% After the Pokemon uses a move, its next basic attack deals a minimum of (10/15/20) damage. The higher the Pokemon's Attack, the more this damage increases. When this item is held by a melee Pokemon, this basic attack also decreases the movement speed of opposing Pokemon for a short time. |
Scope Lens and Razor Claw are the only two Held Item that increase your Critical Hit Rate and damage during matches. Equip this on a Pokemon with a high attack stat like Absol to take advantage of the bonus damage these items gives or fast attackers like Cinderace to constantly deal critical damage.
Upgrading Scope Lens and Razor Claw will raise both Critical Hit Rate and Critical Damage. The higher the item's level grade, the more effective it will be in triggering critical attacks. You can upgrade it by using Item Enhancers, which can be bought from the store.
Increasing your Pokemon's level will also increase its critical rate and damage stat. Make sure to capture Wild Pokemon and score goals consistently to level up your Pokemon!
Using certain Pokemon moves can give you an additional buff that increases your critical rate. Moves like Night Slash or Cross Chop not only deal damage to opponents but will also temporarily boost your Pokemon's critical rate for a short amount of time. Additionally, some Pokemon have Passive Abilities that can raise their Critical Hit Rate when they meet specific conditions.
There are also moves that are guaranteed to deal critical-hit damage.

Azumarill |
When this Pokemon hits only a single opposing Pokemon with a basic attack, a move, or its Unite Move, the hit is always a critical hit. However, when this Pokemon hits two or more opposing Pokémon at once with a basic attack, a move, or its Unite Move, the hits are never critical hits. |
Cinderace |
When the Pokemon uses a move, its next basic attack becomes a boosted attack. When the Pokemon hits an opposing Pokemon with a basic attack or move, a cinder is placed on that opposing Pokemon. Attacking a cindered opposing Pokemon a certain number of times will cause to cinder to flare, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon. When the Pokemon with this Ability is at half HP or less, its critical-hit rate and basic attack speed are increased for a short time. |
Charizard |
When the Pokemon is at half HP or less, its Critical Hit Rate is increased. |
