This moveset provides Vaporeon with strong crowd control moves and various buffs, which is more in line with the Pokemon's role.
Muddy Water stuns and shoves opponents away and has a large area of effect, allowing Vaporeon to control their movement and set up teamfights for its team. On the other hand, Flip Turn provides damage reduction and increased movement speed, and can also shove opponents, adding versatility to Vaporeon.
Let us know why in the comments!
Just like all othe Eeveelutions, it's best to reach level 4 as fast as possible once the game starts since Vaporeon learns its first main move at that level. Upon reaching level 4, you can use the early primary move to your advantage and gain an early lead.
Much of Vaporeon's durability comes from the shield generated by its ability, Water Absorb, making it a central factor to the Pokemon's gameplay.
After the ability is triggered, it goes on cooldown. You can reduce the ability's cooldown by hitting opponents with moves or boosted attacks. Given this, make sure to utilize this mechanic to keep generating the shield as often as possible throughout the match.
Water Absorb: Vaporeon Passive Effect and Cooldown
Vaporeon has a lot of crowd control moves that stuns and/or shoves opponents, which are incredibly useful during teamfight. Given this, your gameplay should revolve around providing constant crowd control using Hyrdo Pump or Muddy Water and/or Flip Turn and tanking hits for your allies.
If Vaporeon learns Aqua Ring, it essentially turns the Pokemon into a Supporter, since it's a recovery move. To maximize the move's effect, it's best to stick with your allies just like a Supporter and provide constant healing during fights.
Additionally, your gameplay now changes to a cross between a Defender and Supporter, tanking damage while healing allies.
Aqua Ring: Vaporeon Move Effect and Cooldown
Aquamarine Splash pulls nearby opponents then throws them afterwards, making it a great move for setting up fights for your team. It's best to use the move to initiate fights rather than finish off targets, especially during crucial teamfights.
Aquamarine Splash: Vaporeon Move Effect and Cooldown
| Surf and Shove Combo | |
|---|---|
| Start by activating Flip Turn and heading towards your target. Once in range, release the wave to knock back the target then quickly follow up with Muddy Water for another knockback. | |
| Aqua Guard Combo | |
|---|---|
| When allies need healing, use Aqua Ring on their location to heal them then follow up with Muddy Water to knock back opponents who are pursuing your allies. | |
Constantly disrupting fights using Vaporeon's crowd control moves will allow it to get the upper hand against these Pokemon.
| Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage |
|---|
| How to Beat |
|
• These Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. They also have high damage potential that can be dangerous for Vaporeon. • Close the gap using Flip Turn, Eject Button or X Speed, then follow up with Hydro Pump or Muddy Water or Aquamarine Splash to displace them. |
| All-Rounders |
|---|
| How to Beat |
|
• These Pokemon excel in close combat and rely mostly on their attacks or combos to deal damage. They are also durable enough to tank Vaporeon's damage. • Disrupt their combos using Hydro Pump or Muddy Water, Flip Turn, and Aquamarine Splash. |
| Speedster |
|---|
| How to Beat |
|
• These Pokemon are incredibly agile and deal high burst damage. However, they become vulnerable when they miss their burst damage attempt. • Tank their moves, then retaliate with stuns using Hydro Pump or Muddy Water, Flip Turn, and Aquamarine Splash. |
| Highly Durable Pokemon |
|---|
| How to Beat |
|
• Much like Vaporeon, these Pokemon are extremely durable, making it hard for Vaporeon to take them out alone. With that, it's best to group up with allies to bring them down with the help of Vaporeon. • Use Hydro Pump or Muddy Water, Flip Turn, and Aquamarine Splash to keep them stunned and set up for your allies. |
These Pokemon can easily fall to Vaporeon's crowd control moves.
| Supporters |
|---|
| How to Beat |
|
• These Pokemon usually stick with their allies and rarely venture alone. Although they themselves pose no threat to Vaporeon, their support capabilities makes them valuable during fights. • Utilize the stuns from Hydro Pump or Muddy Water, Flip Turn, and Aquamarine Splash to use their gameplay against them and set up knockouts for your allies. |
