This is a guide on how to play offline mode in Pokemon UNITE. Read on to know how to set up offline mode and how it is different from online mode.

How to Play Offline Mode

Pokemon UNITE- Offline Mode Select Screen

Only Available for Nintendo Switch Version

Offline mode is an exclusive feature for the Nintendo Switch. Take note that you must update the game to the latest version first to get the feature. Currently, there are no official announcments whether the mobile version of the game will receive this feature as well.

What is Different in Mobile?

Must not be Connected to the Internet

When the game detects that you have no internet connection after the opening intro, you will be prompted with an option to reconnect or use Offline Mode. Choosing the latter will immediately put you at the character select screen.

Differences From Online Mode

No Multiplayer in Offline Mode

There is no way to play with other people or friends while in offline mode, even through local connections.

Can Only Play with Bots

You are only limited to playing with CPU-controlled teammates and opponents. Moreover, you cannot set how many bots are present in a game like in a typical Friendly Match.

All Pokemon Unlocked

Offline mode lets you play as any Pokemon in the roster, even if you do not have their license. This is a great way to get familiar with the characters before you purchase them. Unfortunately, there is no way to review each Pokemon's moves before battle.

All Battle Items Unlocked

Pokemon UNITE - Offline Mode Battle Items Unlocked

Like the Pokemon roster, all Battle Items are unlocked for you to use. This means you can try out items like Full Heal or Goal Getter even if you have not reached the trainer level to unlocked them in online mode.

Battle Item Tier List: Best Items to Use

Cannot Eqiup Held Items

Held Items cannot be equipped in offline mode. Their exclusion may be a way to make matches as balanced as possible, since bots cannot equip held items.

Tutorial Prompts are Present

Important alerts and points of interest will pop up as you play the game. This is great for reminding players with the game's mechanics, since there is no way to access any tutorial info while in offline mode.

Cannot Play Other Game Modes

Pokemon UNITE- Offline Mode Standard Battle Only

Offline mode only features Standard, 5 versus 5 Unite Battles. Other modes like Quick Battle or the Practice Area are not available while in this mode.

No Rewards or Penalties

Pokemon UNITE- Offline Mode Lose Screen
Completing matches in offline mode does not reward you with Aeos Coins or EXP. Additionally, quitting the match will not penalize you in any way.

Match Stats Do Not Carry Over

Winning or losing matches while in this mode will not affect your Battle Record once you go back online.
