Seismic Slam Build Explanation

Since Mega Charizard Y's moveset is locked to Flamethrower and Fire Blast, it's only gameplay will just revolve around burning opponents down with those moves and attacks after using Seismic Slam.

  • Muscle Band improves Mega Charizard Y's attacks through increased damage and attack speed.
  • Energy Amplifier increases Seismic Slam's recharge rate and Mega Charizard Y's damage output after using the move.
  • Full Heal allows Charizard to counter crowd control, especially while its Unite Move is not yet available or is on cooldown.
  • Accel Bracer can be a replacement for Muscle Band to improve Mega Charizard Y's overall damage when it knocks out opponents or get an assist.
  • The build's Boost Emblem loadout should consist of 6 Brown Emblems for maximum damage and 6 White Emblems for additional HP. This can be achieved by equipping at least two (2) Emblems that are both Brown and White.
  • Equip Emblems that improve Attack or Critical-Hit Rate to allow Mega Charizard Y to clear wild Pokemon as fast as possible.
  • Sp. Atk, Defense, and Sp. Def can be freely traded for the other stats.

How to Play Mega Charizard Y

Reach Level 9 Quickly

Since Charizard can only mega evolve into Mega Charizard Y when it uses Seismic Slam, you need to focus on reaching level 9 as fast as possible to learn the Unite Move and gain the ability to mega evolve.

You need to play safer at the start just until you reach level 9. The longer you reach level 9 the less impact Mega Charizard Y will have in the game since the number of times you can use Seismic Slam and mega evolve dwindles as time passes.

Utilize Blaze's Damage Buff

Blaze increases Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard's damage for a short time when it receives damage, allowing the Pokemon to get aggressive and turn the opponent's attacks against them. Make sure to utilize this effect to overpower opponents.

Fight Inside Drought's Area After Mega Evolving

Once Mega evolved, Drought creates a sunny area around Mega Charizard Y thanks. While inside the area, the Pokemon's damage is increased, so it's best to fight within the sunny area to gain a damage boost.

Burn Opponents from Range with Flamethrower and Fire Blast

Since Mega Charizard Y's moveset is locked to Flamethrower and Fire Blast, your gameplay will mostly revolve around burning opponents down with those moves and attacks after using Seismic Slam.

Additionally, Flamethrower's movement speed buff and Fire Blast's area of effect are enhanced during Mega Evolution, so maximize their use during fights.

Save Seismic Slam for Important Fights

Since using Seismic Slam will trigger the mega evolution, it's best you use it only for important fights like when taking objectives.

Unlike the regular Charizard, you have to be more conservative in using Seismic Slam during fights. Avoid using it just to get a knockout or survive a duel, particularly if the 2 minute mark is close.

Utilize the Flying Effect

For a short time after using Seismic Slam, Mega Charizard Y flies and can move freely over obstacles. This allows the Pokemon to hit opponents with its attacks and moves from unusual angles and positions.

Utilize the Increased Damage and HP Recovery Effects

While Mega Evolved, Mega Charizard Y's basic attacks deal increased damage and restores its HP when it hits opposing Pokemon. These effects are extremely powerful during fights since you deal more damage and recover HP simultaneously.

• As a last resort, use Seismic Slam, then stay on top of them while continuously attacking them until they get knocked out.
