Indicated by Light Blue Aura

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Effect blue Aura

When your Pokemon is affected by the UNITE Move effect, it will glow with a Light Blue aura.

How to Use Unite Moves

Activate (ZL) at 100%

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Ready

When the Unite Move is available at 100%, the percentage disappears and the Unite Move starts glowing. Tap the Move icon or press ZL on your controller to use your Pokemon's Unite Move. Some Pokemon may need a target before their Unite move can be used, while others are activated when you target an area.

Some UNITE Moves Require a Target

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Some Requires a Target

Some Unite Moves will require a target before you can activate it. Moves like Thunderstorm, Queen Ascendant, or Seismic Slam, to name a few, requires an opponent to activate. Note that Wild Pokemon cannot be targeted.

Practice in Training Mode

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Practice Area.png

Each Unite Move has unique properties and effects that are not found in other Moves. One of the best ways to learn how to use a Unite Move to its maximum potential is through practicing them in the Practice Area (Training Mode). You can use your Unite Moves on Wild Pokemon, a substitute doll, or the A.I.-controlled enemy Pokemon.

How to Use the Training Mode (Practice Area)

How to Reduce Unite Move Cooldown

When the Unite move is used, the name and icon will be greyed out and you will have to wait for it to reach 100% charge before it can be activated again. Cooldowns can take a long time, but there are ways to decrease the cooldown by performing specific actions.

Defeat Wild Pokemon

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Farming Wild Pokemon to Reduce Cooldown

You can decrease the cooldown time by 4% charge by defeating wild Pokemon within the arena. Defeating player-controlled Pokemon, however, does not contribute to Unite move cooldown reduction.

Score Points in Goal Zones

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Charge Cooldown Goal.png

You can decrease the cooldown time by around ~10% charge by depositing collected Aeos Energy at enemy Goal Zones. The cooldown reduction will be the same regardless of how many points you scored. Moreover, you will still receive the same cooldown reduction when destroying a Goal Zone.

Scoring Guide: When to Score Goals

Getting Knocked Down

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Getting Knocked Down

When defeated by an opposing Pokemon or a Wild Pokemon, the Unite Move cooldown is reduced by 10% charge. However, falling on purpose to decrease your Unite Move is not a viable strategy as you cannot help your team while you are out of combat.

Reduce Cooldown by Equipping Energy Amplifier

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Energy Amplifier Shop

Level Unite Move Charge Rate Reduction
1 0.4%
10 2%
20 4%
30 6%

Energy Amplifier increases the charge rate of the Pokemon's Unite Move when equipped, thus decreasing the cooldown. This is most useful for Pokemon like Charizard and Cramorant, which can deal continuous damage once their Unite Move is activated.

Energy Amplifier Effect and How to Get

Recover Charge From Failed Attempts

In some situations, Unite Moves may fail to hit the target or even fail to activate entirely. Fortunately, the Pokemon will still be able to recover some amount of charge when this happens.

Get Back 50% Charge When Hitting Illusions

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Refund

When we were testing Greninja's Double Team, we found that a Targeted Unite Move hitting a copy will automatically refund you 50% of the Unite Move gauge. Depending on the Unite Move, you will still do full damage to the target and anything surrounding it if it is an AoE target type Move like Blazing Bicycle Kick or Plasma Gale.

Remember, this only works for moves that require you to target enemy Pokemon. So, Unite Moves like Phantom Ambush or Verdant Anger will not recover 50% of the gauge back. We're still trying to figure out more moves and situations which will refund your Unite Gauge. Let us know in the comments if you find anything!

Resets Charge to 90% When Disrupted

Take note that a Pokemon channeling their Unite Move is still susceptible to getting knocked down or bounded. Moves like Draco Impact and Belly Bash need a couple of seconds to prepare before the Pokemon can land the attack. That short window can be exploited and may leave the Pokemon unable to finish the move. If a Pokemon gets disrupted this way, its charge rate will reset to 90%.

When to Use Unite Moves

During Team Battles

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Activate During Fights.png

It is best to use your Unite Move when your entire team starts fighting the entire enemy team, especially when the Unite move affects an area. Because it is so impactful, using it at the right time can turn the tide in your team's favor. It is important to note that you are not invincible when you activate your Unite Move. So, it's best to plan if you are going to use your Unite move whether for pushing a lane or as a tactical retreat.

Save Unite Moves for Objectives

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move During Rayquaza Fight.png

Unite moves should be reserved during objective fights, especially during the last 2 minutes of the match when Rayquaza spawns. Whether it is for securing the objective or clearing out the enemy team, you will want to use save your Unite Move during these important fights to tip the scale of battle in your favor!

What are Unite Moves?

Powerful Finisher Moves

Pokemon UNITE - Greninja Using Unite Move Waterburst Shuriken
Unite Moves are usually the most powerful and impactful Move each Pokemon has. It is the last Move learned by a Pokemon at Level 8-10. Each Pokemon has a unique Unite move, each with its special effects that can have a massive impact during a battle. These moves can range from dealing massive damage to opponents to giving your allies helpful buffs.

Has a Long Cooldown

Pokemon UNITE - Unite Move Cooldown

Because Unite Moves are so impactful, they have a much longer cooldown when compared to normal Moves. Because of the long cooldowns, knowing when to use your Unite Move is important to make sure you get the most out of it. Fortunately, it is also possible to decrease your Unite Move's cooldown by completing specific actions.

Hi, there seems to be a "for a" missing from the red text under Team battle "you cannot be targeted short amount of time while your Unite move is active."

1 Anonymousabout 2 years

On the unite move page you say the Energy Amp reduces the cooldown for unite moves as per the in game description. But on the Energy Amp page it says you guys did a test and showed it did not decrease the unite cooldown at all. Which one is it?
