Depends on what you are looking for. Childe is more versatile and synergies with more comps as main or sub dps whilst also being a hydro character(not many of those) can be hard to play though at 1st. Hu Tao is very strong pyro main dps in the game but only that. You need a 2nd dps to fill in when ele skill duration runs out, keep her below 50% hp for more pyro bonus which means you want shield over heal support and you really want xingqiu to be with her for constant vaporize + the DR.

If you own homa then go for that since its her signature weapon made specifically for her. Next best for her is the primordial jade spear. If you don't have either 5* weapon then go for dragon's bane or deathmatch.
should i do staff of homa or dragons bane for Hu tao (I want to pair her with Kazuha and Xinqui for Vape and Swirl)

Diona's not a bad choice. If you want to play with the damage bonus in mind, her shield can help keep you alive without losing the bonus and her heal will work as an "oh shit" button to save you when things go poorly. Ideally, I'd probably use Zhongli though. Just straight up shielding everything, petrifying them when you can too. Hu Tao's own burst should be more than enough healing alongside Zhongli if you ever need it, especially if you go for the double geo character bonus.
Currently im using level 90 Primordial jade winged-Spear. 2set pyro/2glad Flower subs: 14.6% hp, 14% CritDmg, 7.4Crit rate, 4.7%Atk Plume: 14% hp, 9.9% atk, 7% crit dmg, 16.8% ER Sands main HP: subs; 11.1% Atk, (rest is ER and def) Goblet main pyro; subs; 1046 Hp, 9.9% Hp (rest irrelevant) Crown main HP; subs; 7.8% crit dmg, 16.3% Atk, 448 Hp PHEW FINALLY DONE. I use diana max hp build diona has roughly 30k atm and heals for 19k? Per tick. Its good if u dont wanna die, but bad if u trying to abuze -50% hp buff. So choose ur pick. Imo i love diona as a main healer and i use her with my hutau. But if u like the high risk reward u get from hu tau maybe not as much

Would Diona be a good support for Hu Tao? Since Hu Tao does pretty well with her charged and when you run out of stamina, you can’t dodge. Meanwhile, Diona’s passive (correct me if I’m wrong) , while inside her skill, 10% less stamina is depleted.
its ok if you dont plan on bursting, but hu tao bursts are good so you might wanna stay bursting

In most cases yes. 4crimson is > 2crim, 2 glad. HOWEVER. I have hu tau 90, 10/10/10 talents atm. Been main since release and have done TONS of tests. With my team (Albedo, hu tau, Fischl, Qiqi/Jean) 2/2 works better cause i rarely get the elemental Reactions to proc. Sure overload, but.. With my 4/4 set. My aa’s in my elemental are roughly 8k and dash is 14k. With 2/2 i have 9k aa 22k dash, (could be sub stats) but thats just in my experiences of testing.

qiqi is constantly healing hu tao, basically disabling her sanguine rouge passive, so that wouldnt make a good pair. no idea about xingqiu though
hu tao's main damage comes from her e, so you should build around that instead of her physical dmg
