Probably higher damage output
Have you seen Venusaur? It has boosted attack for a 2k+ burst and a pseudo-stun. It also has Petal dance for 50% movement speed boost, 3k+ sustained damage and Resets for Giga Drain. And Giga Drain has 1500+ burst damage, 800 healing, 2 second cooldown resets with full Petal Dance hits and 40%! damage reduction for 3 seconds after hitting it. Playing in Masters I can say it doesn't feel balanced being able to 1v3 against the likes of Blastoise, Lucario and Pikachu. Sylveon melts instantly
Because held items, item grade, battle item, matchup and player skill have no impact on the result whatsoever? Also the downside to Calm mind is the fact that it's damage negation is irrelevant against multiple weak attacks ie. Sylveon Draining Kiss and Mystical Fire. It's weak against "Death by a thousand cuts" type of moves. Also Hyper Voice's strength lies in sustained damage to a setup. Meaning MF Sylveon with high mobility is about the worst matchup, right after Petal Dance Venusaur.
Multiple times I faced a slyveon 1 vs 1 and won with mystical fire/ draining kiss. Why they used calm mind and hyper voice
Cont- On top of being defensively one of the best abilities in the game (It's a better Feint) CM+ amps your Mystical fire/Hyper Voice dmg from 4.5k/7k ish to around 6k/8.5k, meaning you gain the SAME amount of damage as Draining Kiss, but with the damage negation and shield, which is very VERY good in the CURRENT META. Talon Fly, Venu Solarbeam/Ult, Greninja Surf/Ult, Zera Discharge/Ult. All big burst hits with hefty CD. However when used by less skilled player you see less benefits for CM+.
Everyone here commenting about Sylveon is making a rookie mistake of thinking about the game in a vacuum. 1: Sylveon's strongest damage (and ONLY AoE) and survivability comes from Calm Mind + Hyper Voice. Upgrade for CM is very important for the Survivability part. 2: The best mobile/kiting Sylv build comes from CM + Mystical Fire. This one counters mobile threats like Zera, Talon and to some extent Crustle/Blastoise. Kiss does at best 1500 dmg and heals 900, while CM+ can negate 3k Venu ult.

for attacker sylveon have a ridiculous durability, thanks to her healing capabilities. combined it with focush sash, shell bell, buddy barrier, eject button, and she can win in any 1 on 1 fight. her only problem is just, another sylveon with more skilled trainer.
I like absol...kinda sad to see it fall in populairty especially cuz ive grinded solo to expert with a crit build going fames with 150-300 points and having 13+ kills

There are some instances too where Hyper Voice and Calm Mind is better. But you're right. It is an op moveset
your completely backwards on the moveset calmmind is garbadge it lasts 3sec and gives unnoticable speed boost so isnt even good for mobility drainingkiss heals you and can do damage although overall its trash it certainly is better than calmmind hypervoice is good but if your in top-ladder people are capable of dodging it by moving out of radius,still good move less reliable than mysticalfire you got items mostly correct_buddybarrier and focusband and the third item is still undetermined
masters 1600 here,mystical fire and draining kiss are the weakest abilities you could possibly get Hyper Voice Calm Mind Buddy Barrier Wise Glasses / Focus Band Choice Specs / Focus Band its harder to play but does A LOT more dmg

She’s got some of the best damage in the game. I’m over here destroying everyone. 1 vs 1 she will always win. If no ults are involved. Played a lot and she is ridiculous. Definitely top tier. I’m taking out even tanks very quickly
mystical fire is busted against attacker/speedster pretty much ohkos it and draining kiss to heal up i use scope fokus band and wise glasses

Mystical Fire + Draining kiss is OP. Mystical Fire for offense, D.K. for defense(and offense) X attack works well when fighting zapdos and other bosses Wise glasses- Sp. atk specs- scope lens
