Game8 chose Mega Mewtwo X as Season 13's best Newcomer. It's without a doubt that Mewtwo, in general, is one of the most-awaited Pokemon to arrive in UNITE given its prestige in the main games and anime. And when Mega Mewtwo X was released, not only did it live up to its status, it pratically broke the meta given just how powerful it is. In fact, the Pokemon was too broken that it was nerfed twice just shortly after its release. However, even with the nerf, the Pokemon remained as dominant as it was prior to its nerfs, showing no glaring signs of weakening.

Zacian fell off the meta when it was nerfed in the 1.10.1.3 Update, which made its gameplay much harder to execute. However, as a response to Mega Mewtwo X's domination, Zacian proved to be one of the few Pokemon that can stand up against it, and due to that situation, the Pokemon came back to the spotlight as a meta pick. In fact, it even debuted in 2023 World Championships, showing an splendid performance.
