During this period, Highguard developers quickly shut down the game’s cancellation rumors after a brief website outage sparked concern, while Mewgenics made headlines by climbing past Hades 2 to become Steam’s most-played roguelike. On the hardware side, a new one-handed Switch 2 accessory in Japan highlighted growing accessibility efforts, giving players more flexible ways to enjoy their games.

Meanwhile, Minecraft continued to evolve with the full rollout of baby mobs in beta modes, adding charm and fresh interactions to its world. And over in the battle royale scene, speculation is heating up as hints point toward a possible Fortnite x Solo Leveling crossover. Here are some of the events that arose during the third week of February!

Gaming News At A Glance: Highguard’s Downtime Scare, Mewgenics Takeover, Switch 2’s New One-Handed Accessory

Devs Clarify Highguard Is Alive After Website was Down

    highguard slade

Players of Highguard were briefly alerted after the game’s official website suddenly went offline this week, leading some to fear the project had been quietly canceled. However, the developers quickly stepped in to clear the air, assuring everyone that the downtime was simply due to technical issues and not a sign of trouble behind the scenes.

They emphasized that development is still moving forward as planned, and the team remains committed to bringing the game to players. For now, fans can rest easy knowing Highguard is still very much alive and due for further progress.

Mewgenics’ Feline Domination Overtakes Hades 2 and Other Roguelikes

    Mewgenics Cat Showing Its Butt

Mewgenics has surged in popularity, becoming Steam’s most-played roguelike and even surpassing Hades 2 in concurrent player numbers. The game’s quirky mix of cats, tactical combat, roguelike progression, and chaos has clearly struck a chord with players. Mewgenics has been able to keep a whopping 115,000+ players active even after a week from its launch.

Beating out a major title like Hades 2 is no small feat since the title had the no. 1 spot since 2025, and such a milestone has sparked plenty of discussion online. With its growing fanbase and strong engagement, Mewgenics is shaping up to be one of the standout roguelike hits on Steam for 2026.

Switch 2 Accessory Reintroduces One-Handed Gaming

    Image

A new accessory for the Switch 2 in Japan is drawing attention for its unique design—it allows players to comfortably control the system using just one hand, similar to the design of the Wii. The add-on aims to improve accessibility, making it easier for gamers who may not be able to use both hands or simply prefer an alternative control style. While currently released in Japan, many players are hopeful it could expand to other regions, offering more flexible ways to enjoy Switch 2 titles.

All Lil’ Minecraft Baby Mobs Fully Revealed in Beta

    Minecraft baby hoglin and zoglin

Minecraft players active in beta modes can now encounter all implemented baby versions of various mobs, adding an extra layer of cuteness and charm to the iconic blocky world. These miniature creatures come with adjusted appearances and behaviors, making them more than just smaller copies of their adult versions.

This addition gives longtime players something new to discover while exploring familiar biomes. But apart from the baby mobs, fans are also still hoping for other features to be added in the future that’ll have more of an impact on Minecraft’s gameplay.

Fortnite Hints At Solo Leveling Crossover Coming Soon

Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive Jin Woo Wears His Dark Blue Shadow Monarch Gear

Clues of a possible Fortnite x Solo Leveling collaboration have fans buzzing after a series of cryptic social media posts caught players’ attention. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the timing and imagery of the teasers strongly suggest that something related to the popular series could be on the way.

If a crossover does happen, players would likely see themed skins, additional playables, events, or special in-game items inspired by Solo Leveling and its Shadows. For now, the community is eagerly watching for an official announcement as their anticipation is on the rise.

Review Roundup: Feb 15th to 21st

Space Trekking, Stealth Goblin, A Spooky Curse in One Ready-To-Deliver Package

    Image

This week has just a little bit of everything—from the far reaches of space to a medieval-like era to a remote Japanese island, all the way to a fantasy region.

Firstly, Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown puts players in the shoes of a spaceship captain (fittingly named the Voyager) trying to survive with her crew in an unknown region of space, light-years away from home. Styx: Blades of Greed marks the return of cunning and stealthy goblin Styx on his next heist, while Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse tells the tale of a small island caught up with doppelgangers and the supernatural. For something a bit more comedic and lighthearted, Calamity Angels: Special Delivery might just be a good treat.

    Calamity Angels: Special Delivery

    Image

Anime-style courier game Calamity Angels: Special Delivery puts players as a member of the Angel Delivery Service, a courier team tasked to deliver packages across a land full of vicious monsters and danger, while also discovering the lore and getting to know the people of the Orkotris Region.

It comes barreling in as a JRPG chock-full of fun and personality, tied together with a lighthearted story that’s simply charming. Unfortunately, it’s bogged down by its RNG-based, board-game-style combat that can be more frustrating than what it's worth.

    Styx: Blades of Greed

    Image

The third installment of a long-running series, Styx: Blades of Greed welcomes back the titular Styx and his band of outcasts on their third heist, who have their eyes set on the mysterious Quartz, an enigmatic material said to be full of power. However, with a war between the humans, elves, and orcs on the horizon as well as the watchful stares of the Inquisition in tow, they will need to sneak, stealth, and find their way through all the challenges.

As a sequel, its signature stealth mechanics remain challenging and fun, allowing for an engaging experience along with the addition of a bigger map to explore. However, these newer, Metroidvania-style maps don’t feel as fleshed out as they should be.

Star Trek: Voyager - Across the Unknown

    Image

The strategy simulation game Star Trek: Voyager follows the story of Captain Katherina Janeway and her crew on the eponymous Voyager as they try to navigate through a region full of danger after being whisked away deep into unfamiliar territory. With resolve, they must maneuver their way through prickly decisions and management of resources to ensure their survival.

It’s a pretty decent game—if you focus on the strategic gameplay and narrative aspect of it, that is. Resource management and UI design lend themselves well to the experience, overcoming the weakness of its spaceship combat and poor voice-acting.

    Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse

    Image

Set on the remote island of Kameshima, horror-themed visual novel Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse follows pearl diver Yuza who frighteningly encounters a doppelganger deep in the depths of the island’s surrounding waters, marking the beginning of a wave of paranormal oddities that affect the town’s residents.

The game delivers on its narrative as a visual novel, with its blend of personal, emotional arcs for the characters entwining with the gripping mystery of the plot sure to keep players on edge. It also boasts several fourth-wall-breaking puzzles that keep the game more engaging. However, its pacing could use some work, especially with its draggy historical expositions, and its lack of voice-acting is a missed opportunity.

    Hero Or Killer—What’s Your Calling?

    Image

Hero or killer, these Early Access/Demo reviews have got you covered on both fronts. Play as a sweet Lamb or a hungry Wolf in multiplayer deduction game KILLER INN, or save Mahatma City from danger in the MIGHTREYA demo.

    KILLER INN [Early Access]

    Image

KILLER INN is a multiplayer, social deduction game for up to 24 players split into 16 Lambs and 8 Wolves. Set in a sprawling mansion, participants must examine crime scenes, gather evidence, and try not to be caught as the next victim…or to be exposed as a killer.

Although it had a promising concept, it ultimately fails to deliver at its current state—a gorgeous, ambitious setting that serves as a perfect backdrop for social deduction games, only to be hampered by its poor deduction mechanics and poor action gameplay, often reduced to just shoot-outs and "may the last man standing win".

    MIGHTREYA [Demo]

    Image

Action-packed, anime-style fighting game MIGHTREYA unveils its demo during the Steam Next Fest, introducing players to schoolgirl-superhero protagonist Reya and her stream manager Nio who save the city by taking down the monstrous Kaiju—all while livestreaming to thousands of adoring fans who want all in on the action.

While it is a demo, it doesn’t leave a good impression due to its janky controls and bug-riddled gameplay. It boasts flashy, adrenaline-pumping aerial combat, employing the use of strong attacks and combos to eliminate enemies with style. If only it worked as well as intended half the time, as its game-breaking glitches, sudden frame drops, and unresponsive controls can leave a sour taste in the mouth.
