A patch mais atual foi de desequilibrio não equilibrio,talonflame,decideye e outros pokemons fortes receberam pequenos buffs desnecessarios enquanto pokemons fracos como tyranitar e galonchomp foram nerfados até mesmo o duraldon foi nerfado.

Yeah YouTube videos are really good at helping you choose a main or winning games
You should probably try characters in the SS, S, or A tier, but i personally usually use mew or absol.
I would recommend playing defender or attacker 'mons since those are the easiest to use. Try them out in practice to make sure. You can always watch YouTube videos to help you understand how to play your desired Pokémon and win matches more.

there are a lot of other good mons but they need some practice if you wanna win
personally,I always play the pokemon which feels fun to me, or the ones whose playstyle I really like....but trevenant,pikachu,miraidon,pretty much all of the evees and blissey can win you games at lower ranks
