Just as with a normal match, players should focus more on scoring throughout the game instead to knocking out opponents since the goal of the game mode is to score 500 points first.
Moreover, focusing on scoring allows players to unlock more Aeos technologies for their team, which could further establish their lead or give them a chance to turn the tides of the match.
However, knocking out opponents is still an effective strategy in winning matches as it allows players to easily score points.
The most effective strategy in First to 500 is to keep taking Rotoms that spawn around the map. Doing so allows players to pressure their opponents by forcing them to defend their goal zones from Rotom.
In the event that Rotom successfully breaks an enemy goal zone, players should take advantage of the effect and score as many points as possible while the effect lasts.
One important thing to note is that Rotoms will also spawn on destroyed goal zones, so it's also crucial for players to destroy their opponents' goal zones while also defending their own.
Choosing the proper Aeos technologies for the Pokemon and the situation can also have an impact on the game's outcomes. There are Aeos technologies that can further push a winning team's aggression and lead or help the losing team turn the tides of the battle.
It's best to read and understand each Aeos technology first before joining a match, allowing the players to carefully plan which ones they'll take during the game. They can be seen in the Battle Guide screen under the Aeos Technology tab.
