This build is centered on slowing and damaging targets with Thunder, then following up with Charge Beam. Miraidon will mostly be at the backlines during fights, providing firepower for its team.

Since the build is centered Charge Beam, equipping items that will maximize its damage is the ideal combination.
Out of all the item combinations, Wise Glasses, Choice Specs, and Slick Spoon will be the best for the build. The item combination produced the second best Charge Beam result with a decent Thunder damage score. It's also the item combination that doesn't require Miraidon to stack an item to gain maximum damage.

This build is centered on charging down targets with Electro Drift and using Parabolic Charge to slow targets and replenish Electro Drift's charges. The build is best used in the jungle since Electro Drift is a dash move.

Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Sp. Atk. Specs | Sp. Atk. Specs gives Miraidon a large flat amount of Sp. Atk., improving its overall damage output. |
Wise Glasses | Wise Glasses gives Miraidon a large Sp. Atk. boost thanks to the Pokemon's innately high Sp. Atk. stat. |
Choice Specs | Choice Specs provides Miraidon a decent amount of Sp. Atk. and increases its moves minimum damage. |
Slick Spoon | Slick Spoon grants Miraidon a nice amount of Sp. Atk. and HP stats, and it allows the Pokemon to ignore a portion of its targets' Sp. Def. |
Curse Incense | Curse Incense gives Miraidon a decent amount of Sp. Atk. stat and works great with its charge-based moves. |
Item | Explanation |
---|---|
Eject Button | Eject Button gives Miraidon a repositioning tool particularly for maintaining its distance from opponents. |
X Speed | X Speed improves Miraidon's overall mobility through increased movement speed. |
Move | Explanation |
---|---|
Charge Beam | Charge Beam allows Miraidon to burst opponents from a safe distance and better suits the Pokemon's Attacker role. |
Thunder | Thunder is the ideal move to set up Charge Beam. Its slow and homing effects are also great for kiting opponents. |
This moveset better suits Miraidon's Attacker role and has more natural synergy. Charge Beam and Thunder allows Miraidon to burst down opponents from a long range, keeping the Pokemon safe from enemy attacks. Thunder also makes it easier for Miraidon to hit targets with Charge Beam and can deter opponents from approaching the Pokemon.
Choosing a moveset for Miraidon is entirely up to player preference since any move combination have high damage potential. However, it's generally better to pair Charge Beam with Thunder and Electro Drift with Parabolic Charge as they naturally just mesh well together.
Let us know why in the comments!

Thunder Shock and Thunder Wave have good range and deal decent damage. Use them to pressure or knock out enemies or secure wild Pokemon from range in the early game. This makes it faster for Miraidon to level up and learn its upgraded moves.
Miraidon's ability, Hadron Engine, allows the Pokemon to create Electric Terrain on its position when it deals damage to opponents with its moves. Miraidon and its allies gain increased damage and immunity from sleep when they are inside the Electric Terrain. Moreover, it also strengthens ally goals and weaken enemy goals. Find a good position to create the Electric Terrain and utilize its effects during fights to gain an advantage.
A minimum of 10 Aeos Energy is needed for Electric Terrain's area to expand and a maximum of 40 Aeos Energy to reach its full expansion or area of effect.
Lvl | Charge Beam |
---|---|
5 | 726 → 975 (+34.3%) |
10 | 1049 → 1363 (+29.92%) |
15 | 1548 → 2012 (+29.97%) |
Based on our findings, the damage increase when Miraidon is inside the Electric Terrain is about 30%.
When using Charge Beam, it's best to stay at the backlines during fights, since the move needs charging to deal maximum damage, leaving Miraidon vulnerable to attacks. Moreover, always be aware of Miraidon's surroundings as preying opponents might be lurking around to take out the Pokemon, especially Speedsters.
Charge Beam: Miraidon Move Effect and Cooldown
Although Parabolic Charge also has synergy with Charge Beam, Thunder is objectively the better option when using Charge Beam. The slow and homing effect of Thunder allows Miraidon to easily set up Charge Beam from afar, which perfectly suits the Pokemon's gameplay when it's using Charge Beam.
Thunder: Miraidon Move Effect and Cooldown
When using Electro Drift, Miraidon's gameplay will be similar to Speedsters, dashing in and out of fights to deal damage. Use each charge of Electro Drift strategically; one to dash in and another to dash out. Doing so allows Miraidon to reset and do it again while being safe from enemy attacks. Furthermore, it's best not to stay too long after dashing in as it will leave Miraidon in a vulnerable position.
Electro Drift: Miraidon Move Effect and Cooldown
Although Thunder can also work nicely with Electro Drift, Parabolic Charge provides more benefits for Miraidon when it's using Electro Drift. One major benefit of using Parabolic Charge is the ability to replenish a charge of Electro Drift when it hits opponents. Another benefit is that it slows opponents in an area, giving Miraidon some time to make its next move.
Parabolic Charge: Miraidon Move Effect and Cooldown
The most effecient way to use Bright Future Meteor Storm is to focus on hitting opponents that are close together since it's easier to aim it at one spot rather than moving it to multiple locations for each meteor.

These combos are the ideal way of setting up Charge Beam and Electro Drift.

1. The chart is based on our own experience playing Miraidon. 2. Pokemon within each tier are unordered 3. Any Pokemon not shown here are still under investigation. |
Countering Miraidon will depend on whether it learns Charge Beam or Electro Drift. If it learns Charge Beam, it prefers to remain in the backlines during fights. In that case, Pokemon who have high mobility and burst damage can quickly get close to Miraidon and take it out.
On the other hand, if it learns Electro Drift, the Pokemon will quickly dash in and out of fights like a Speedster. Pokemon who have a lot of disabling moves are the best counter picks in that case.
Pokemon | Explanation |
---|---|
Talonflame | Rating: ★★★★★ • Can snipe Miraidon from afar using Brave Bird, or safely approach and burst it down with Fly. • Can displace or head straight for Miraidon using Flame Sweep. |
Zacian | Rating: ★★★★ • Can quickly get to Miraidon with Agility and burst it down with Sacred Sword or Metal Claw. |
Umbreon | Rating: ★★★★ • Mean Look can prevent Miraidon from dashing when it uses Electro Drift. • Can heal itself or allies with Wish. |
Depending on its moveset, Miraidon needs to utilize all its move mechanics to get the upper hand against these Pokemon.
Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage |
---|
How to Beat |
• Much like Miraidon, these Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. They also have high damage potential that can knock out Miraidon quickly. However, they are fragile and can get knocked out by Miraidon fast. Winning against these Pokemon is all a matter of striking first. • When using Charge Beam, cast Thunder near them first, then follow up with Charge Beam. Make sure to charge it to extend the move's range. • When using Electro Drift, find a way to approach them safely, then use one charge to dash in and another to dash out. Make sure to use Parabolic Charge after dashing in and hit them twice with Electro Drift to trigger its Boosted version. • Alternatively, use Bright Future Meteor Storm on their location to force them to play defensively, but make sure to move around to avoid attacks. |
All-Rounders |
---|
How to Beat |
• These Pokemon excel in close combat and rely mostly on their attacks or combos to deal damage. They are also durable enough to tank Miraidon's damage. However, they have to come close first to attack, making them susceptible to getting kited. It's best use Charge Beam and Thunder against these Pokemon. • Use Thunder on their location to slow them and discourage them from approaching, then follow up with Charge Beams to force them to retreat. • Alternatively, just use Bright Future Meteor Storm after using Thunder to take them out. |
Highly Durable Pokemon |
---|
How to Beat |
• These Pokemon are extremely durable, making it hard for Miraidon to take them out alone. With that, it's best to group up with allies to bring them down with the help of Miraidon. • When using Charge Beam, slow them using Thunder, then deplete their HP with Charge Beam from a safe distance. • When using Electro Drift, use one charge to dash in and another to dash out. Make sure to hit both dashes to trigger the Boosted version. |
Pokemon with little to no means of countering either of Miraidon's gameplay are easy targets for the Pokemon.
Ranged, Fragile Pokemon with High Damage |
---|
How to Beat |
• Much like Miraidon, these Pokemon prefer to keep their distance from opponents when fighting. However, they are fragile and have little to no means of getting away from Miraidon's moves. |

Make sure to also use the Boosted version of Electro Drift for more damage. • Alternatively, just use Bright Future Meteor Storm after using Thunder to take them out. |
Supporters |
---|
How to Beat |
• These Pokemon usually stick with their allies and rarely venture alone. Although they themselves pose no threat to Miraidon, their support capabilities makes them valuable during fights. • Take advantage of them being in close proximity to each other by using Thunder to slow them, then following up with Charge Beam. • When using Electro Drift, make sure to hit as many opponents as possible when dashing in and out. • Alternatively, just use Bright Future Meteor Storm after using Thunder to take them out or force them to scatter. |
Pokemon | Explanation |
---|---|
Alolan Ninetales Slowbro Wigglytuff | Pokemon with Strong Disables |
Strong disabling moves like Sing and Slowbeam makes it easier for Miraidon to hit opponents with its moves. | |
Snorlax Metagross Blastoise | Frontliners |
Defenders and/or All-Rounders can take attention away from Miraidon and tank damage in the frontlines, giving Miraidon space to use its moves from the backlines. |
