Using Defender Pokemon in a battle often limits trainers from doing high damage output which can affect your win rate highly. This is not the case for some Defenders like Blastoise and Snorlax that can dish out a lot of pain. Not to mention zone out enemy Pokemon from scoring and defending their goal zones.
