Discharge Effect

Discharge In-Game.jpg

Creates a field of electricity that surrounds you, damaging nearby enemies and granting a shield if it hits an enemy. Hitting a paralyzed Pokemon with this skill pulls them towards you and damages them again.

How to Use Discharge

Best Paired with Spark

Discharge - Best Paired with Spark

Using all three charges of Spark allows you to stay on top of your target, ensuring the maximum damage from Discharge. If you did not learn Spark, Eject Button can be a substitute for it. However, it's less effective than using Spark.

Hit Nearby Wild Pokemon for the Shield When Escaping

Discharge - Hit Wild Pokemon for Shield

You only need to hit at least one enemy unit to gain the shield from Discharge. With this is mind, when you're trying to escape pursuing enemies, find any nearby wild Pokemon and activate Discharge to gain the shield. This will increase your chances of surviving, even just for a short duration.

Hitting wild Pokemon is only applicable if it's too risky to hit an enemy Pokemon.

Can be Used to Mitigate Damage

Discharge - Effective Against Sure-Hit

In most cases, the shield from Discharge is enough to mitigate the damage from moves. This is can be effective during large teamfights.

Pull Enemies with Volt Switch

Pokemon UNITE - Pull Enemies with Volt Switch and Discharge

Since Discharge pulls enemies towards you when it ends, you can use Volt Switch to pull them at a greater distance, allowing you to isolate targets and set up kills.

To achieve this, Volt Switch in and use Discharge. With the right timing, use Volt Switch again as Discharge ends to pull enemies towards your initial position. This is a hard trick to pull off, but it's incredibly effective.
