Charges power before releasing a shock wave. The shock wave deals damage to nearby opposing Pokemon and leaves them unable to act for a short time. While the user is charging power, its movement speed increases, it gains a shield, and it becomes resistant to hindrances. If any opposing Pokemon are hit by the shock wave, the user's piercing strength increases, allowing it to ignore opposing Pokemon's Defense and shield effects for a set time. If this move hits an opposing Pokemon the user can release a second shock wave in front of itself, dealing damage to opposing Pokemon and decreasing their movement speed for a short time. If this second shock wave hits, the user is granted another shield. The strength of this shield is proportional to the number of opposing Pokemon hit by the second shock wave, reaching maximum shield strength if 3 Pokemon are hit.
Always move while charging Ancient Power to utiilize the increased movement speed, shields, and Hindrance Resistance.
Use Ancient Power to chase or catch up to fleeing targets.
You can also use Ancient Power to escape bad engagements or reposition to a safer spot.
Since you can still be slowed while moving, use X Speed first before charging Ancient Power to increase your speed and gain immunity from slows.
One trick you can do is to press the button for Ancient Power once without holding it to quickly generate a small shield and stun enemies. This can be effective during intense engagements where you need to quickly block damage and continue attacking or using your moves to survive or win the fight.
Before releasing the button for Ancient Power, make sure there are nearby enemies for the shock wave to hit. This ensures that you'll gain the bonus effects.
Take advantage of the piercing strength effect when you hit the shock wave from Ancient Power by using your moves or attacking while the effect lasts. This lets you shred through your targets' defense stat and shields.
Always use and hit the second shock wave to slow enemies and gain another shield. It's best to hit at least 3 Pokemon with the second shock wave to fully strengthen the shield.
