Ranked Season 18: End Date and Rewards
The old rule that only one EX Pokemon is allowed per team in ranked battles is currently suspended for Ranked Season 18. We are unsure if this rule will return in future ranked seasons but this rule is replaced by the one above as of writing.
EX Pokemon can be played normally and are not regulated in other Unite Battles like Standard or Quick Battles. The rules above only applies to Ranked Battles
EX Pokemon is a special group of Pokemon where certain rules in Ranked Battles are applied. The rules are explained above!
The EX Pokemon classification is designated by developers throughout the lifetime of the game. Legendary Pokemon usually populate the EX Pokemon classification and they're mostly really powerful that can break the meta.
It's important to note that the EX classification does not actually affect the Pokemon's power level during matches. EX is merely a notation that these Pokemon has special rules & conditions applied to them per Ranked Season.
The EX Pokemon classification was implemented from December 5, 2023. It was one of the many future plans mentioned in the Letter from the Producer.
