Mega Magearna's extremely high Special Attack stat pairs well with Fleur Cannon and Flash Cannon, since these moves already have very high base power, paired with it becoming Plus Moves thanks to Mega Evolution.
Fleur Cannon's debuff of lowering Special Attack can be offset by Calm Mind, which raises the users Special Attack and Defense by one stage.
| Item | Effect / Location |

|
Effect: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. A Magearna holding this stone will be able to Mega Evolve during battle. Location(s): |
The item chosen for Magearna for this build is Magearnaite. This is the only Held Item for this build, as it is required to Mega Evolve Magearna.
| Fleur Cannon | Magearna's signature move, dealing high damage at the cost of lowering SpA by one stage. |
|---|---|
| Flash Cannon | Long-Range Steel-type STAB attack that can deal high damage from afar. |
| Aura Sphere | Long Range Fighting-type attack that serves as coverage move against other Steel types. |
| Calm Mind | Setup move that allows Magearna to boost SpA and Sp Def, with the additional caveat of offsetting the debuff from Fleur Cannon. |
The moves listed above capitalizes on Mega Magearna's extremely high Special Attack stat, while also providing some defensive options.
Even with a coverage move, it is best if you switch Magearna out whenever faced with a disadvantageous matchup, especially against Fire or Ground-type Pokemon.
| Steel Beam | Alternative to Flash Cannon, putting most Pokemon in OHKO range at the cost of recoil damage. |
|---|---|
| Protect | Good alternative to Aura Sphere, providing Magearna with more defensive options to allow easier switching out. |
A full 252 EVs are put into Magearna's Special Attack and Speed to make it hit as hard and fast as possible. The extra 4 EVs are placed into Defense to help round out its bulk.
A Timid nature is preferred to help further increase Magearna's Speed stat, further reducing the cooldowns of your moves.

Always move around the arena and wait for an opportunity to punish opponents or steal kills, allowing you to score points with ease!
