The best spot to hunt Shiny Magikarp is at Wild Zone 2 at Vert District during the Day time. While Magikarp can appear during both day or night, it is better to hunt in the day since Staryu can spawn at night. This affects Magikarp's spawn rates.

Fast Travel to Wild Zone 2

Rest on Nearby Bench at Wild Zone 2
Use the Bench outside the Wild Zone to change the time until a Shiny Magikarp spawns.

How to Manually Save
Save your progress before attempting to catch the Shiny Magikarp.
④ Catch the Shiny Magikarp. If you accidentally defeat the Shiny Magikarp without catching it, you can reload your save to make another attempt.

How to Shiny Hunt (Fast Travel Method)

Change to Day Time at Wild Zone 2
Rest on a bench to change the time to Day. While Magikarp can appear during both day or night, it is better to hunt in the day since Staryu can spawn at night. This affects Magikarp's spawn rates.

Enter Wild Zone 2
Fast Travel to Wild Zone 2. If there are no Shiny Magikarps, open your map then Fast Travel to Wild Zone 2 again. Repeat this step until Shiny Magikarp spawns.

Save your progress before attempting to catch the Shiny Magikarp.
④ Catch the Shiny Magikarp. If you accidentally defeat the Shiny Magikarp without catching it, you can reload your save to make another attempt.

Shiny Hunt During the Day

While Magikarp can spawn both day and night, it shares a spawn location with Staryu in Wild Zone 2 during the night.

This means that less Magikarp are likely to spawn during the night time.
