To begin shiny hunting Hyperspace Portals, start by preparing your Donut. Aim for a Sparkling Power donut, made using Sweet berries. Higher Sweet Flavor will have a higher chance to roll higher levels of Sparkling Power, as well as a chance to roll Alpha Power to hunt Shiny Alpha Pokemon.
Sparkling Power will also roll for a specific Pokemon type, only increasing the shiny rate for that specific type. There is also a very rare chance to roll a Sparkling Power: All, which increases the shiny rate for all encounters, regardless of type.
How to Make Shiny Donut Recipe
| # | Step by Step Objectives |
|---|---|
| 1 |
Heal at a Pokemon Center Start by healing at any Pokemon Center. Healing at a Pokemon Center will trigger the autosave function, which will serve as your returning point when you use the Backup Save function later on. |
| 2 |
Make a Donut with High Sweet Flavor Sparkling Power can be rolled on Donuts with high Sweet Flavor. Aim to make Donuts with at least 500 Sweet Flavor for the best chances at rolling Sparkling Power. |
| 3 |
Check the Donut's Flavor Powers After making the Donut, check the Flavor Powers to see if you rolled the desired Flavor Powers. If you did not roll Sparkling Power, press the Home Button and restart the game. |
| 4 |
Restore Backup Save After restarting the game, press UP, B, and X simultaneously on the title screen to load your backup save. This will bring you back to the Pokemon Center, where you can repeat Steps 2-3 until you receive the desired Flavor Power. |
You can also make use of the Backup Save feature to reroll Flavor Powers, to make sure that none of your Hyper Berries go to waste.

You can reset Hyperspace Wild Zones by sitting on the bench or sleeping in your room at Hotel Z. When a new Hyperspace WIld Zone appear, the Pokemon and their type will change.
By resetting a Hyperspace Wild Zone, you can spawn one that has the Pokemon you want to catch. These include Pokemon from previous games that cannot be obtained in the main game, new Mega Evolution Pokemon, as well as starter Pokemon from the Hoenn region.

Similar to normally rerolling encounters in Wild Zones, you can Fast Travel to the entrance of the Hyperspace Portal to reroll nearby encounters. If the Pokemon you wish to Shiny Hunt spawns far from the entrance, make sure to check their spawns each time before rerolling the encounter!
Keep in mind that the time you can spend within the Hyperspace Wild Zone is limited, determined by the Calories of the Donut you use. You can enter the Wild Zone and familiarize yourself with the spawns, or use the Backup Save to try and shuffle the spawns of the Pokemon within.
After finding and catching the desired Shiny Pokemon, you can set your sights on hunting a different Shiny Pokemon!
Depending on your DLC Story progress, you can even aim to Shiny Hunt certain Legendary Pokemon!
When using a Sparkling Power Lv. 3 Donut, the Hyperspace Quest to Catch a Shiny will be available, which will always guarantee one Shiny Spawn within the Portal.
Once the Shiny Pokemon is spawned, it will be fixed, but you can reroll which Pokemon becomes Shiny by reloading your Backup Save from before entering the Portal!
If a Pokemon spawns too far away from the entrance, instead of Flying to the entrance repeatedly, you can run 75m away from the Pokemon to despawn it, and reroll that specific Pokemon.
This is especially helpful for rerolling Pokemon found in specific areas, such as the Roaming Legendaries!

While Legendary Pokemon are usually Shiny Locked, the Eon Duo and Swords of Justice can be Shiny.
Finding a Portal with them can be quite rare, so make sure to reroll encounters once you find them, and use your Backup Save if the time runs out for more chances of finding the Shiny Variants of these Legendary Pokemon!
