Shiny Hunting Tips

Equip a Shiny Charm

Shiny Charm

To increase your odds of finding a Shiny Pokemon, you can also equip a Shiny Charm, which is given as the Level 50 Mable's Research Reward. This item roughly quadruples your chances of encountering a Shiny, making the odds around 1/1024 instead.

Fast Travel to Wild Zones

Fast Travel to Wild Zones

If you're looking to catch a specific Shiny Pokemon, then you can simply go through the Wild Zone that they appear in and fast travel to the same Wild Zone if the Shiny doesn't appear.

Fast traveling resets the Wild Zone and makes all new Pokemon appear, and you can keep repeating this method until the Shiny Pokemon appears.

Reset the Wild Zone Using Benches

Bench Reset Method

If there are benches in the Wild Zone where you're hunting for Shinies, you can opt to reset the Wild Zone by resting a bench instead. This will save some time compared to repeatedly fast traveling to the Wild Zone you're in. If you have a rapid-fire controller like the HORIPAD Turbo for Nintendo Switch 2, you can set it to the A button while holding your joystick back using a rubber band tied to another object to AFK farm for Shiny Pokemon.

Go Up and Down the Stairs in Wild Zone 3

If you're looking for Shiny Pokemon from Wild Zone 3, you can go up and down the stairs behind the Alpha Litleo as this will reset the Pokemon in the Wild Zone as well.

You can also use the rubber band method used in the Bench Reset method to AFK farm by putting a rubber band around your left joystick then attaching the rubber band to another item so that the joystick remains pointed down on its own.

Run Away to Reroll Pokemon Outside Wild Zones

Run Away to Reroll Pokemon

Some Pokemon may not appear in Wild Zones or only appear on rooftops, so if you want Shiny variants of these Pokemon, you can run away from them to despawn them and reroll your encounter. To make sure that the Pokemon is despawned, you must be far away enough from the Pokemon that they are no longer on your screen.

Save Your Game When You See a Shiny

Additionally, once you see the Shiny Pokemon, they will not despawn if you don't interact with them. However, some Pokemon may get nervous and flee, which does despawn them, so you should save your game before you attempt to catch the Shiny

Can Be Found in Wild Zones

Wild Shiny Pokemon

Wild Zones house wild Pokemon, and Shiny Pokemon can be found here as well. If the Shiny odds are the same as it was in previous Pokemon games, there is a 1/4096 chance of encountering a Shiny Pokemon without the Shiny Charm, so if you spot a Pokemon with a unique color, sneak up behind it or defeat it with your Pokemon and catch it!

A Sound Cue Plays When a Shiny is Nearby

Aside from their different colors, a sound cue also plays when a Shiny Pokemon is in the vicinity, so make sure to listen in case a Shiny isn't in your field of view.

Rare Variants of Pokemon in a Different Color

Normal Variant Shiny Variant

Shiny Pokemon are very rare kinds of Pokemon that come in a different color compared to their regular counterparts. However, the difference between regular and Shiny Pokemon are purely aesthetic, and Shiny Pokemon do not get any increase in stats.
