Pokemon Legends: Z-A introduces Plus Moves, a mechanic that increases a move's damage while using power from the Mega Ring. Learn about the uses of Plus Moves, how to unlock them, what the controls are and how a Pokemon gets a Plus Move.
How to Unlock Plus Moves
Complete Main Mission 9
Plus Moves are unlocked after completing Main Mission 9, Chase That Mysterious Pokemon!, where AZ gives you a Mega Ring.
How to Learn Plus Moves
Randomly Learned Across Pokemon or Exchange Seed of Mastery
The way Pokemon learn a Plus Move differs per level across different species. Once a Pokemon levels up an alert will show for the Plus Move applied.
Players can also exchange their Seeds of Mastery at the Justice Dojo, to the right of Prism Tower near Jaune Plaza.

How to Use Plus Moves
Press the + Button for Non-Mega Evolved Pokemon
For non-Mega Evolved Pokemon, trainers need to press the + button before selecting a move to turn it into a Plus Move. The selected move has to have the Plus Move mark beside it and there needs to be at least 1 energy bar of Mega Power in their Mega Ring, shown in the lower right of the screen.
Move Closer to Pokemon for More Mega Power
As a helpful tip, the closer trainers are to their Pokemon when they attack, the more Mega Power they will gain to charge the ring. When a Pokemon is Mega Evolved its moves by default are already Plus Moves.
Where to Use Plus Moves
Useful Against Rogue Mega Pokemon and Alpha Pokemon
Plus Moves boost the damage to moves by using Mega Power. They are very helpful against really strong enemies like Rogue Mega Pokemon and Alpha Pokemon, especially for Pokemon that cannot Mega Evolve or have not yet Mega Evolved.
