Rogue Mega Mawile is a Steel and Fairy-type Pokemon, which only makes it weak to Fire and Ground-types.
On the other hand, most of the other Pokemon types are not effective against it, such as Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dark, and Fairy. Not to mention, it is also completely immune to Dragon-type attacks.
Camerupt
|
Recommended Moves: ・ Earthquake ・ Lava Plume ・ Flamethrower ・ Focus Energy How to Get: ・Evolve from Numel at Lvl. 33. Numel is found at Wild Zone 8. Summary: Being a Fire and Ground-type, Camerupt can tank Rogue Mega Mawile's Steel and Dark-type attacks with little to no damage at all. On the other hand, any of Camerupt's attacks are double effective against the Rogue Mega. |
Camerupt is the best counter Pokemon against the Rogue Mega Mawile. Its Fire and Ground-type attacks are super effective against Fairy and Steel-type. Defensively, Fire and Ground-type Pokemon are resistant to Fairy and Steel.
Camerupt Location, Evolution, and Stats

You can get a Cameruptite, to Mega Evolve your Camerupt, after completing Main Mission 12, A Rogue Mega Camerupt.
Rogue Mega Camerupt Strategy Guide
| Focus Energy → Flamethrower → Earthquake → Lava Plume → Flamethrower |
With Mawile's naturally low Sp. Def., we will utilize Camperupt's high base Sp. Atk to defeat the Rogue Mega very easily. Start with Focus Energy to increase critical hit chance.
Then, you can use Fire and Ground-type attacks simultaneously, since they all have similar cooldowns. You also do not need to worry about sustainability, as all of Mawile's attacks are not effective against Camerupt.
Charizard
|
Recommended Moves: ・ Fire Fang ・ Fire Spin ・ Fire Blast ・ Flamethrower How to Get: ・Evolve from Charmander Line, obtained from Side Mission 22: A Call from Mable. Summary: Charizard is a good counter Pokemon and alternate to Camerupt, since Camerupt is slow due to its low base Speed. Mega evolving it to Mega Charizard Y makes its Fire-type attacks more powerful. |
If you are bothered by Camerupt's slow Speed, you can opt to choose Charizard and Mega Charizard Y. Its Fire-type makes it resistant to Fairy and Steel-type attacks.
Do note that you Mega Charizard Y is better to use here, since it's a Fire and Flying-type, rather than Mega Charizard X, which is a Fire and Dragon-type. Fairy attacks are not effective against Y, but cause normal damage against the X.
Charizard Location, Evolution, and Stats

Charizardite X and Y can be bought from the Stone Emporium for 100,000 P. The Stone Emporium is located to the north of Wild Zone 1, below the Pokemon Center.
Charizardite X can be used to evolve Charizard to Mega Charizard X, while Y will evolve to Mega Charizard Y.
| Fire Spin → Fire Blast → Flamethrower → Fire Fang → Fire Spin |
Fire Spin creates a Fire AoE under Mega Mawile, which deals continuous damage as long as it is within the circle. Follow Fire Spin with Fire Blast, which maximizes the bonus damage dealt by the Fire AoE.
Flamethrower should follow after, then Fire Fang, which both have quicker cooldowns compared to the other moves, so it should be used to weave between rotations, maintaining continuous Fire-type damage.

|
| Rogue Mega Mawile Common Attacks | |
|---|---|
| Iron Head |
Play Rough |
Rogue Mega Mawile's common attacks are Iron Head, which is a Steel-type, and Play Rough, which is a Fairy-type. Both of these attacks are Physical, so Mawile will get close to its target first before performing either of these attacks.
Once it gets close to someone, be sure to dodge or reposition to avoid getting hit by either of its attacks.
Once it's HP reaches a certain point, it will teleport outside of the Battle Area, and throws a barrage of Fairy-type Orbs in the air. Make sure to look for the gaps in between the orbs and stay put to avoid it.
Retreat your Pokemon during this point, as the Orbs are big in circumference, and its hard to measure if your Pokemon can dodge it.

The Rogue Mega Mawile Battle is located at the Magenta District, southwest of Wild Zone 14, on top of the building near the Wild Zone. It unlocks during Main Mission 21, A Rogue Mega Mawile.
You can fast travel to the Magenta Pokemon Center, then walk towards the south to get to the building near Wild Zone 14. Climb up the scaffolding to get on top of the building where Rogue Mega Mawile is.

You will get the Mawilite Mega Stone after defeating the Rogue Mega Mawile! The Mawileite allows you to Mega Evolve your own Mawile in your team.
