Mega Venusaur is a Grass/Poison-type Pokemon, which makes it weak to Fire, Ice, Psychic, and Flying Pokemon. However, it is also resistant to Water, Electric, Fighting, and Fairy, and Grass. When forming your team, you should consider these type compatabilities to give you an upperhand during the battle.

Charizard is a Kanto Starter evolution with a moveset that builds around offensive Fire-type moves, which makes it suitable for more aggressive playstyles. Its rotation of powerful Fire-type moves makes it an optimal counter against Mega Venusaur. |
Charizard is both a Fire/Flying Pokemon, which makes it super effective against Venusaur. Its learnset is composed of mainly Fire-type moves, which gives you a wider array of Fire attacks that you can use for different strategies.

Charizardite X and Y can be bought from the Stone Emporium for 100,000 P. The Stone Emporium is located to the north of Wild Zone 1, below the Pokemon Center.
Charizardite X can be used to evolve Charizard to Mega Charizard X, while Y will evolve to Mega Charizard Y.
How to Get Charizardite X Mega Stone
| Fire Spin → Fire Blast → Flamethrower → Fire Fang → Fire Spin |
Start by using Fire Spin to surround Venusaur in a Fire AoE so that it will take continuous Fire damage. Afterwards, use Fire Blast, which is your strongest Fire-type move in the set. Follow it up with Flamethrower, then seal the rotation with Fire Fang, which has the quickest cooldown.

Moves: ・Work Up ・Wing Attack ・Air Slash ・Hurricane How to Get: ・Evolves from Pidgey Line, found in Wild Zone 1, and Wild Zone 5 ・Alpha Pidgeot found on rooftop in Bleu Sector 5 Pidgeot is Flying-type Pokemon that can attack fast and deal deadly damage. Use Work Up to buff its Attack stats, then unleash strong Flying-type moves upon Mega Venusaur. |
Pidgeot is a Flying-type Pokemon with a high base Speed, which allows it to attack faster in battle. Being able to attack first can be greatly advantageous, and could even be the difference between victory and defeat.

Pidgeotite can be purchased from Quasartico Inc. for 180 Mega Shards. Pidgeotite can be used to Mega Evolve Pidgeot.
How to Get Pidgeotite Mega Stone
| Work Up → Hurricane → Air Slash → Wing Attack → Work Up |
Use Work Up to boost Pidgeot's Atk and Sp. Atk, then use Hurricane after, since it deals the highest damage in your moveset. After Hurricane, use Air Slash then Wing Attack to top off the rotation.

Do not stand in front of Mega Venusaur. Mega Venusaur's attacks have a wide range, and it is possible to get hit by them if you are standing too close.
You should especially watch out for Venusaur's Poison Puddle, which will create a posion AoE in the area surrounding Venusaur.

Destroy the brambles that show up in the area. If you let them linger, Venusaur will later suck HP from the brambles, restoring its health.

When you see Mega Venusaur charging up, get ready to run around the arena. Mega Venusaur will aim a beam at you which will follow you around as you run.
When you see Mega Venusaur charging its beam, return your Pokemon into their Poke Ball so that they avoid taking damage. Once you start running, they will likely try to follow you, putting them in the direct line of fire.
The Venusaur Mega Battle can be encountered in the middle of a field at Jaune Sector 8 when you unlock Main Mission 29: A Rogue Mega Venusaur. Rogue Mega Pokemon are indicated by a glowing pink aura surrounding the Pokemon.
To get to the Rogue Venusaur Mega Battle, teleport to the Hibernal Pokemon Center, then head down the street to the left. After passing by the Pokemon Battle Court, head up the field and locate the Rogue Venusaur under the gazebo.

After defeating the Rogue Mega Venusaur, you will receive the Venusaurite Mega Stone as a reward. The Venusaurite allows you to Mega Evolve your own Venusaur in your team.
