What are Berries?

Consumable Restorative Items

Berries can Heal Your Pokemon

Berries are consumable items that can keep a Pokemon healthy during battle. Most of them can be used in your satchel, just like Medicines. Other Berries are used like Held Items, that need to be equipped for their effect.

How to Use Berries

Use It on Pokemon via Satchel

Use this Item via the Satchel

To use a berry, open the menu with X then select Satchel. Press L or R to go to the Berries category, then select "Use this item" to target a Pokemon.

If a berry does not have an effect on the Pokemon, nothing will happen. For example, if you use a Cheri Berry on a Pokemon that is not paralyzed, it will not consume the berry.

Some Must be Held by a Pokemon

Give a Berry to your Pokemon

Other Berries can or must be held by a Pokemon for its effect to work. Once the trigger happens, the Pokemon will consume the berry. For example, a Pokemon holding an Sitrus Berry will eat it when their HP goes under 50%.

Unlike other Held Items, the berry will be consumed if a Pokemon uses it this way. Using berries like this are great for specific battles like Alpha Pokemon if you need to defend against a certain type or status condition.

Walk on Sparkling Spots for Berries

You can find random berries by walking on sparkling spots. Walk to your destination instead of fast traveling to get some extra berries!

Buy Them in Berry Stalls

Buy Berries at Berry Stalls

If you need a specific berry, you can buy them at Berry Stalls across the city. Check one if you need some restorative items in a pinch.
