Paxton and Harmony are the canon names of the male and female protagonists of Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Learn more about their role in the story, their names, and if you can customize them by reading below!

Best Names For the Protagonist
Paxton and Harmony as Canon Names
In the trailers for the game, the names shown for the boy and girl protagonists were Paxton and Harmony, respectively. The names are a callback to the previous games in the Kalos region, Pokemon X and Y, since each name has a letter referencing one of its titles.
Though these are not canon, these names also fit the game's setting. "Pax" from Paxton means peace. Since their names mean peace and harmony, it ties into Lumiose City's goal of being a place for humans and Pokemon.

Should You Choose the Male or Female Protagonist?
Either Protagonist Can Wear Any Cosmetic
Just like in the previous Gen 9 games, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, you can buy and earn customization options like clothes, hair, and accessories.
Use them to freely express how you want to look like, as all cosmetic options are available for both Genders!

Depending on which main character you choose, you will have a different appearance and starting outfit. Once you unlock more customization options, you can change your outfit, as these cosmetics are not locked behind specific genders.
Choosing your protagonist does not affect gameplay, and is entirely up to your preference.
Choose the Protagonist and Ally You Prefer
Choosing your main character at the start of the game affects which Ally you will get during your adventures.
Choosing Paxton, or the Male Protagonist will pair you with Taunie, and choosing Harmony, or the Female Protagonist pairs you with Urbain instead.

At the start of the game, you must create a character by choosing a gender and a name. Once you pick a name, you cannot edit it again so choose wisely!
Protagonist's Role in Story
Resolve Incidents in Lumiose City
After choosing a gender and naming your character, you will arrive in Lumiose City, a metropolis in the Kalos Region. You will meet friends, climb the ranks of the Z-A Royale, and solve the mystery behind the Rogue Mega Pokemon.
