Mega Chandelure Build★★★★★ |
Strengths:
• Gets a major boost to its Sp. Atk when Mega Evolved. • Great coverage against a lot of popular picks. • Threatens a lot of popular Meta Picks like Glaceon and Metagross. Weaknesses: • Physically fragile; which makes it susceptible to Ground-type coverage commonly ran by the Pokemon its meant to counter. • Getting an Alpha to increase Heat Wave's damaging area is pretty difficult. |
Regular Chandelure Build★★☆☆☆ |
Strengths:
• Can hold Life Orb to deal more damage than its Mega. • Strong enough to scare off Metagross into switching, then you can counter with another Pokemon. Weaknesses: • Not tanky enough to survive higher Ranks. • Building an Alpha is still not recommended due to its size which makes it an easy target. |

This build focuses on providing AoE damage using Psychic and Heat Wave from afar. Do try to avoid being included in skirmishes as you will be the first to go down.

|
Effect: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. A Chandelure holding this stone will be able to Mega Evolve during battle. Location(s): • Mega Shard Exchange at Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards |
The item chosen for Chandelure for this build is its Mega Stone, Chandelurite.
How to Get Chandelurite Mega Stone
| Psychic | Your main attacking move and will home onto enemies when cast. |
|---|---|
| Heat Wave | Used to score much points as possible by targeting enemies engaged in battles. |
| Energy Ball | Used to KO pesky Water and Ground-types like Excadrill, Gyarados, and Starmie. |
| Shadow Ball | If you don't knock out a Metagross with Heat Wave, this can finish it off. |
This set focuses on having Chandelure deal as much damage to a wide variety of opponents as possible.
| Solar Beam | Can replace Energy Ball, but has a long wind-up time. |
|---|---|
| Will-O-Wisp | Can be used to cripple a lot of popular Physical attackers. |
| Curse | Can be used to force opponents to switch out, or get some free points even when you're knocked out. |
| Fire Blast | An alternative to Heat Wave meant more for dealing damage than scoring. |
| Protect | If you time it well, you can punish opponents by countering with another move. |
A full 252 EVs are put into Chandelure's Special Attack and HP to make it hit as hard as possible and take a few hits. The extra 4 EVs are placed into Speed for quicker move cooldowns, but its negligible.
A Modest nature is preferred to help further increase Chandelure's Special Attack stat.
| Item: Metagrossite | Shadow Ball + 209-247 (111.7 - 132%) Guaranteed OHKO |
| Item: Skarmorite | Heat Wave + 266-317 (190 - 226.4%) Guaranteed OHKO |

This build focuses on running Chandelure to be a menace to opponents with Will-o-Wisp and Curse.
| Item | Effect / Location |
|---|---|

|
Effect: If a Pokemon holding this Berry is hit with a supereffective Ground-type move, the power of that move will be weakened. |
|
|
Effect: An item to be held by a Pokemon. It boosts the power of the holder's moves, but the holder also loses a small amount of HP upon landing an attack. Location(s): • Purchased at Racine Construction (₽ 4980) • Reward from Side Mission 85 |
The item chosen for Chandelure for this build is the Life Orb. This will allow Chandelure to go beyond the damage of what its Mega can do.
Alternatively, you can use a Shuca Berry to lower damage from the commonly ran Ground-type moves, then counter with your own attacks.
Life Orb: How to Get and How to Use
| Shadow Ball | Can one-shot any Metagross even with Assault Vest. |
|---|---|
| Will-O-Wisp | Can be used to cripple a lot of popular Physical attackers. |
| Curse | Can be used to force opponents to switch out, or get some free points even when you're knocked out. |
| Heat Wave | Used to score much points as possible by targeting enemies engaged in battles. |
This set focuses on having Chandelure deal as much damage as possible and cover its weaknesses to Steel and Poison.
| Solar Beam | Used to KO pesky Water and Ground-types like Excadrill, Gyarados, and Starmie, but has a long wind-up time. |
|---|---|
| Energy Ball | Lower wind-up compared to Solar Beam, but lower damage. |
| Item: Assault Vest | Shadow Ball + 187-221 (100 - 118.1%) Guaranteed OHKO |
| Item: Skarmorite | Heat Wave + 296-351 (172 - 204%) Guaranteed OHKO |
With the combination of a Life Orb or Mega Evolution and its high base Special Attack, it would be difficult for a Pokemon to survive an attack from Chandelure unless it resists it.
Use a hyper-offense team that has Pokemon that can complement Chandelure's offensive pressure.
| Offensive Lead | Steel Counter | Poison Coverage |
|---|---|---|
Xerneas
|
Chandelure
|
Gallade
|
These three Pokemon are all powerful attackers and can cover for a wide variety of enemies. Switch in and out Pokemon to gain a favourable matchup while also looking to punish your opponent when you have a bad switch in.
