If you want to get more Mega Shards, then consider exchanging for Pink Canari Plushes at the Racine Construction Company as they increase the amount of Mega Shards that you receive.
Which Canari Plush Should You Get?

Some moves have lower cooldowns than others, and its best to farm Mega Shards with these low cooldown moves as you don't have to wait for your moves to come back before farming more Shards.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Bullet Punch | Physical | 40 | 3 | The user attacks with a flurry of tough punches as fast as bullets. |
| Quick Attack | Physical | 40 | 3 | The user attacks by lunging toward targets with blinding speed. |
| Water Shuriken | Special | 15 | 3 | The user attacks with five throwing stars formed from mucus, launched one after the other. |
| Shadow Sneak | Physical | 40 | 3 | The user attacks by stretching out a shadow to strike targets from behind. |
| Aqua Jet | Physical | 40 | 3 | The user attacks by lunging toward targets with blinding speed. |
| Mach Punch | Physical | 30 | 3 | The user attacks by throwing a punch with blinding speed. |

All of these moves have a 3 second cooldown making them easy to farm Shards with.
Lucario
|
Lucario can learn multiple low cooldown moves, such as Bullet Punch, Quick Attack, and Extreme Speed, and having those moves in one moveset makes farming Mega Shards much faster.

Certain moves have a wide area-of-effect, making them effective for destroying multiple crystals that are clustered together, which can make your farming more efficient.
| Move | Category | Power | Cooldown | Details |
|---|---|---|---|---|
|
Bulldoze
(TM 078) |
Physical | 60 | 6 | The user attacks targets by stomping on the ground. This also makes targets move more slowly for a short time. |
|
Waterfall
(TM 098) |
Physical | 80 | 8 | The user attacks by charging at targets with incredible momentum. This may also make targets flinch. |
|
Dazzling Gleam
(TM 092) |
Special | 80 | 8 | The user attacks with a powerful flash of light. |
|
Surf
(TM 073) |
Special | 90 | 8 | The user attacks by swamping a wide area with a giant wave. |
|
Earthquake
(TM 069) |
Physical | 100 | 10 | The user attacks by setting off an earthquake that strikes a wide area. |

Online Ranked Battles also grant Mega Shards as a reward for winning, so you can also fight other trainers online to get Mega Shards.

You net 300+ Mega Shards in around 3 minutes by farming Mega Shards here. You can make your farming more efficient by using a flying or floating Pokemon with AoE Moves to reach crystals from far away and destroy groups of crystals quickly.

Another area where you can find a lot of Mega Shards is around the Prism Tower walls. The farming spot is also easy to follow since you only have to go around the walls while destroying the crystals along the way.
However, this farming spot is only available before finishing the game, as the walls disappear due to the appearance of Wild Zone 20.

Mega Shards can be used to trade for certain Mega Stones and Exp. Candy. These can be exchanged by visiting Quasartico Inc. and speaking to the receptionist.
You can only carry up to 999 Mega Shards at a time, so always make sure to purchase Mega Stone from Quasartico whenever you can to avoid maxing out your Mega Shard storage.
After purchasing all of the Mega Stones from Quasartico, you can use your extra Mega Shards to exchange for EXP Candies instead.

Jacien about 1 monthA suggestion would be an alternative to the Prism Tower location if you're in the post-game, because the wall covered by crystals is gone. Best I could make do with that immediate area was teleporting to Wild Area 20, and in Jaune Sector 1 there's a bunch of crystals scattered about the grass.

Just want to add that for wild zone 9, there are 2 good spots in the Carbink spawns for shards. There's the one closer by the warp point where you fast travel to and the other one is not far from the Alpha Manetric spawn.
