Rogue Mega Froslass is an Ice and Ghost-type Pokemon, which makes it weak to Fire, Ghost, Steel, Rock, and Dark-types. However, other Pokemon types are not effective against it, such as Poison, Bug, and Ice-type attacks.
We recommend using any Fire, Dark, Rock, or Steel-type Pokemon to counter Rogue Mega Froslass. Ghost-type would be the least option here as they are also weak to Ghost-type attacks.
Sharpedo
|
Recommended Moves: ・ Crunch ・ Night Slash ・ Leer ・ Focus Energy How to Get: ・Evolve from Carvanha, which is found at Wild Zone 10. An Alpha Sharpedo can be found at the same location. Summary: Sharpedo's Water and Dark dual-type combination works great against Rogue Mega Froslass' Ice and Ghost-type matchup, both offensively and defensively. |
Sharpedo is the ideal counter Pokemon against Rogue Mega Froslass due to the type matchup. Additionally, Sharpedo's high base Speed is on par with Froslass, as they have similar stats. The true advantage of Sharpedo would be its high base Attack and Sp. Atk.
Sharpedo Location, Evolution, and Stats

You can buy a Sharpedonite at Quasartico Inc. for 180 Mega Shards. The Sharpedonite can be used to Mega Evolve the Sharpedo in your party.
How to Get Sharpedonite Mega Stone
| Focus Energy → Leer → Crunch → Night Slash → Crunch/Focus Energy |
Sharpedo's natural playstyle is reckless, but strategic, similar to a real-life shark. So, we can start by using Focus Energy and Leer. Focus Energy first, as it has a higher cooldown than Leer.
Then, go all out with a combination of Crunch and Night Slash to take a big chunk off Rogue Mega Froslass' HP.
Houndoom
|
Recommended Moves: ・ Snarl ・ Fire Fang ・ Flamethrower ・ Dark Pulse How to Get: ・Evolve from Houndour, which is found at Wild Zone 6. An Alpha Houndour and Houndoom can also be found at the same location. Summary: Houndoom is both a Fire and Dark-type Pokemon, which are super effective against both Ice and Ghost types. Defensively, it is also resistant to both of the type matchups. |
Houndoom's situation is similar to Sharpedo's; its dual-type combination works well against Rogue Mega Froslass.
Offensively, any type of Houndoom's attacks combined with its high base Sp. Atk. is super effective against Ice and Ghost. Defensively, any of Rogue Mega Froslass' attacks are not effective against Houndoom.
Houndoom Location, Evolution, and Stats

You can buy a Houndoominite at Quasartico Inc. for 180 Mega Shards. The Houndoominite can be used to Mega Evolve the Houndoom in your party.
How to Get Houndoominite Mega Stone
| Snarl → Dark Pulse → Flamethrower → Fire Fang → Dark Pulse |
Raise your Sp. Atk. by using Snarl first, then follow it up with either Dark Pulse or Flamethrower. Lastly, use Fire Fang while waiting for the other moves' cooldown.
Dark Pulse and Flamethrower are interchangeable here as they have similar cooldowns.
Excadrill
|
Recommended Moves: ・ Iron Head ・ Rock Slide ・ Swords Dance ・ Leer How to Get: ・Evolve from Drilbur, which is found at Wild Zone 8 and Wild Zone 14. An Alpha Excadrill can also be at Wild Zone 14. Summary: Excadrill's Steel-type is its main counter against Rogue Mega Froslass, which is great offensively and defensively. However, it can be vulnerable to Ghost-type moves. |
Excadrill is a good alternative counter Pokemon against Rogue Mega Froslass, if you're not into using other types of Pokemon. Its Steel-type is good, both for offense and defense, against Ice types.
Other suggested Steel-type Pokemon that you can use would be Aggron or Aegislash.
Excadrill Location, Evolution, and Stats

You can buy a Excadrite at Quasartico Inc. for 360 Mega Shards. The Excadrite can be used to Mega Evolve the Excadrill in your party.
How to Get Excadrite Mega Stone
| Leer → Swords Dance → Iron Head → Rock Slide → Swords Dance |
Increase some of your stats first for maximum damage with Leer and Swords Dance. Follow it up with Iron Head and Rock Slide.
Iron Head is usually a more powerful attack and can actually stun Froslass. Rock Slide is better used if Froslass is not moving or using Phantom Force.
| Rogue Mega Froslass Battle Tips |
|---|
|
|
Rogue Mega Froslass' frequently used move is Phantom Force, which is where it dives onto the ground and teleports to another area. You can predict the next area it goes to by looking for the large dark puddle on the ground.
Once you see the large dark puddle, get ready to attack Rogue Mega Froslass immediately, as it's completely defenseless at this point.
| Rogue Mega Froslass Attacks | |
|---|---|
| Icy Wind |
Shadow Ball |
The easy to dodge attacks are Icy Wind and Shadow Ball, this is due to it being very obvious to see beforehand. When Rogue Mega Froslass attacks, it stretches out its arms first, then uses an attack.
When Rogue Mega Froslass uses charge mode, it makes giant icicles fall randomly on the field. During the end of this attack, three huge icicle pillars will be left on the battlefield.
You can dodge the falling icicles by retreating your Pokemon and non-stop running around Froslass.
Rogue Mega Froslass' second charge mode occurs immediately after the first one, which is the falling icicles. The second charge mode unleashes an unavoidable blizzard attack, causing massive Ice-type damage.
The only way you can survive it is to hide behind the three huge icicle pillars on the field. At the end of the second charge mode, it will destroy the three huge icicle pillars.

The Rogue Mega Froslass Battle is located at the Bleu District, at the rooftop of Stone Emporium. It unlocks during Main Mission 27, A Rogue Mega Froslass.
You can go to the Vernal Pokemon Center, then walk towards the west to go to the holovator at Bleu Sector 3. Walk along the rooftop, use Fire attacks on the ice shards to create ice bridges, until you reach Rogue Mega Froslass.
First, fast travel to Vernal Pokemon Center and walk towards the west until you reach the southwest corner of the building at Bleu Sector 3. Then, you need to complete the Side Mission 61, My Favorite Holovator, to gain access to the holovator.
Once on the rooftop, follow the path towards Rogue Mega Froslass. You also need to use Fire-type attacks on the ice shards on the ground to create ice bridges.

You will get the Froslassite Mega Stone after defeating the Rogue Mega Froslass! The Froslassite allows you to Mega Evolve your own Froslass in your team.
