A Shiny Malamar has a yellow and green palette as opposed to its usual purple and red. Its body and the underside of its tentacles changed from purple to green, its head recolored to a yellow tint, while its beak and shoulders gain a deeper shade of red.

The best spot to hunt Shiny Malamar is at Wild Zone 20 in Centrico Plaza, available after completing Main Mission 38.

Note that Wild Zone 20 is only available during post-game. Additionally, this Wild Zone can spawn guaranteed Alpha Pokemon from a pool at its center, allowing players to hunt for Shiny Alphas while attempting to get Shiny Malamar.

How to Shiny Hunt

Fast travel to Wild Zone 20. Note that this is only available after finishing the main story.

Wild Zone 20 East Bench World View
Head to the eastern bench of Wild Zone 20.

Rest at the Bench Repeatedly Until Shiny Malamar Appears
Rest at the bench repeatedly to reroll the encounters in the vicinity.

Note that Shiny Pokemon does not disappear when once it spawns. Players are free to repeatedly rest at the bench without the risk of missing any Shiny.

Waterside Area of Wild Zone 20
After resting, head to the waterside area to check if Malamar spawned as a Shiny.

How to Manually Save
Save the game if Shiny Malamar appeared as a failsafe in case the capture attempt fails.

Otherwise, return to the bench and rest repeatedly again until it spawns.

Once you see a Shiny Malamar, they will not despawn if you don't interact with them. However, some Pokemon may get nervous and flee, which does despawn them, so you should save your game before you attempt to catch the Shiny
