As a Ground/Dragon Pokemon, Zygarde is weak against Dragon, Ice, and Fairy moves. Since Ground and Dragon-types are both weak against Ice, Ice Moves deal quadruple the damage compared to other type advantages.
On the flip side, Zygarde is resistant against Electric, Fire, Poison, and Rock types, so avoid bringing those kinds of Pokemon into battle.

After buffing its attack with Swords Dance, rotate between strong Ice moves like Blizzard, Ice Beam, and Ice Punch. |
As a Dragon Type Pokemon, Zygarde has a weakness against Ice, so Ice Pokemon like Abomasnow would be an effective counter in this battle.
Alongside being an Ice Pokemon, Abomasnow is also a Grass-type, which makes it resistant to the Ground moves that Zygarde may attack with. This gives Abomasnow longer survivability on the battlefield.

Abomasite can be bought in the Stone Emporium for 50,000P. This can be used to Mega Evolve Abomasnow.
| Swords Dance → Blizzard → Ice Beam → Ice Punch |
Since Swords Dance increases the odds of landing a critical hit, you should immediately follow it up with your strongest move in the set which is Blizzard. After dealing Blizzard, hit Zygarde with another strong Ice move like Ice Beam.
Ice Punch is saved for the end since it has the quicker cooldown and can be weaved between rotations to maintain the damage uptime while Abomasnow's other moves are on cooldown.

| Geomancy → Moonblast → Focus Blast → Dazzling Gleam |
Start off with Geomancy to boost your Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, and increase movement speed. Geomancy's buffs only last for a short while, so use Moonblast first since its the strongest Fairy attack in your moveset. Afterwards, use Focus Blast to lower Zygarde's Sp. Def then finish off with Dazzling Gleam.

[Plush Ranking] ★☆☆☆☆ A plush doll of Canari that holds a green charm. Having one of these makes you a little less likely to black out from taking damage. |
Before entering this battle, you may want to consider exchanging your Colorful Screws for upgrades to your Green Canari Plush. This lets the trainer endure more hits without blacking out.
Colorful Screw Exchange Location
Since this is going to be a long fight, stock up on a lot of healing items to keep your Pokemon in shape while battling Zygarde.
This will be the last major battle of the game, so feel free to use rare medicine like Max Revives, and Full Restores.
| While in his 10% Forme, Zygarde charges up then summons arrows to rain down from above. |
When you see Zygarde charging up during the first phase, do not stand in front of it since it's about to unleash an AoE on the area in front of it.
| While in his 50% Forme, Zygarde powers up before summoning earthquakes that target the player around the arena. |
During his second phase, when you see Zygarde charging up, start running around the arena. Shortly after, the ground beneath your feet will begin to crack. Dodge and roll out of the way before the ground explodes.
If you have enough time, withdraw your Pokemon before the attack starts since it will try to follow you and is likely to get hit by the earthquakes.
| While in his Complete Forme, Zygarde approaches the trainer. When it is closeby, it will leap forward then unleash an AoE blast, damaging anyone caught within its radius. |
When you reach the final phase, Zygarde will stop targetting Pokemon and will instead target the trainer.
Make sure not to get too close as Zygarde approaches, since it can suddenly unleash an AoE blast once you stand within its vicinity.
| Complete Forme Zygarde charges up. After a short amount of time, arrows will rain down on the spot where the trainer was standing. |
As Complete Forme Zygarde starts charging up, start running around the arena. Similar to 10% Zygarde's Thousand Arrow attack, Zygarde will charge up and rain down arrows on the space where the player is standing.
| Complete Forme Zygarde floats to the middle. After charging up, cracks will form on the ground starting from the border of the arena going inwards, unleashing a barrage of devastating earthquakes. |
As Zygarde starts charging up in the center, stand by the borders of the arena. Zygarde will do an earthquake attack that will start from the outside then go in towards the center. Staying by the borders will help you avoid most of the earthquakes.
Ideally, you will want to stand in the spaces between the cracks to completely avoid taking damage.
Complete Forme Zygarde teleports outside of the arena. After a few seconds, it will Mega Evolve and jump up into the air. Using a laser, it will draw a Z-pattern across the arena. Shortly after, the pattern will explode in a bright green light. |
As Zygarde teleports out of the arena, immediately run to the borders. While you can, take this moment to withdraw your Pokemon back into their Pokeball.
Shortly after, Zygarde will Mega Evolve and draw a pattern on the ground. Once it draws the pattern, you will only have a few seconds to get to the non-glowing areas before it explodes.

The Zygarde Mega Battle can be encountered at the Wild Zone 20 when you unlock Main Mission 42: To Keep The World in Balance.
After defeating L in front of Hotel Z, go to Wild Zone 20 where you will encounter Zygarde. You will then be prompted to battle.
