Main Mission 08

To unlock A Shiny Mareep?, progress through the story until you reach Main Mission 08: Reaching Rank V. This requires you to battle Lida, and once you’ve done so, you’ll be able to start this side mission.

You can start A Shiny Mareep? in Wild Zone 1. Talk to Duve, who’s located just outside the northern entrance to Wild Zone 1, to the east if you’re coming from the fast travel point.

  1. Head North to the Pond Area
  2. Climb the Ladders to the Rooftop

Head North to the Pond Area

Shiny Mareep Wild Zone 1

To start, fast travel to Wild Zone 1 and head north. Just before the gate ahead, go to the area on the right where you’ll find a large pond and a boulder. Behind this boulder is the first ladder you need to climb to reach the Shiny Mareep.

The area ahead may be blocked by boulders, which you can clear easily if you have a Pokemon that knows Rock Smash. You can get this TM early in the game, specifically when you meet Mable.

How to Destroy Boulders and Obstructions

Climb the Ladders to the Rooftop

Once you’re in the area, climb up the ladder. On the next level, go over the roof and climb another ladder on the right. This will lead you to the rooftop where you can find the Shiny Mareep.

The side mission ends here after the cutscene, and you can freely catch the Shiny Mareep afterward.

Fast Travel to Force a Respawn

In case you fail to catch the Shiny Mareep by accidentally defeating it, you can force it to respawn by simply fast traveling back to the area. The Shiny Mareep will appear at the top again, ready for you to catch.

However, if you’ve already caught the Shiny Mareep, no other Shiny Mareep will spawn in the location. You can only catch it once.
