To encounter Mega Garchomp Z, you first need to purchase and play through the Mega Dimension DLC. You do not need to complete the DLC's story to get Mega Garchomp Z, but you need to complete the base game's story first before you can access the Mega Dimension's content.

You then need to obtain a special hyperspace distortion via Mystery Gift. This Mystery Gift was released on February 27, 2026 and has no end date at the time of writing.
List of Mystery Gifts and Events

Next, you first need to complete at least one Hyperspace Wild Zone before the Mega Garchomp Z portal appears. You can enter any one-star portal to access the special one.
All Hyperspace Wild Zone Locations

After meeting the requirements, a yellow hyperspace distortion will appear on the map, which will contain an unidentified Mega Stone.
This will be a one-star hyperspace portal, so you can use any donut you have made as the battle will be relatively easy.

A Level 110 Mega Garchomp Z will be waiting behind the portal which you need to defeat to get the Garchompite Z Mega Stone. You can use an Ice-type Pokemon to defeat it, as it is a mono-Dragon-type.
Once you defeat Mega Garchomp Z, you will obtain the Garchompite Z which will allow you to Mega Evolve a Garchomp into its new Z Mega Evolution!

Stats: HP / Atk / Def / SpAtk / SpDef / Speed
| Nature | Stat Changes |
|---|---|
| Modest | ↑ SpAtk, ↓ Attack |
| Timid | ↑ Speed, ↓ Attack |
Since Mega Garchomp Z is a Fast Special Attacker, it's best Nature is either Modest or Timid to boost its Special Attack or Speed further, while reducing its Attack stat.
| Nature | Stat Changes |
|---|---|
| Mild | ↑ SpAtk, ↓ Defense |
| Rash | ↑ Speed, ↓ SpDef |
You can also give Mega Garchomp Z either Mild or Rash nature, if you will mainly use it for Story Content.
Keep in mind that giving Mega Garchomp Z any of the above two natures will increase the damage it receives, making it less ideal for Competitive Play and harder post-game content.

If your Mega Garchomp Z has a different Nature than the ones we recommend above, you can use a Mint to change its Nature.
