While playing Pokemon Legends: Z-A, players may notice surprising Easter eggs that call back to previous Pokemon games like Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Read on for a list of these Easter eggs and where they can be found.

The game's central plot of Lumiose City's urban redevolpment is based on Paris' own Haussman renovations that happened in the 19th century. The project aimed give order to the city and is reflected in the game by the expansion of Wild Zones.

Mable is a returning character from Pokemon X and Y. She was a Team Flare scientist but is now the acting director of the Pokemon Research Lab.
She is also the person who gives players the Elevator Key in Pokemon X and Y and asks trainers in Pokemon Legends: Z-A to look for the same Elevator Key when exploring the ruined Lysandre Labs.

Players encounter both of these characters early on in this game, with AZ serving as the manager of Hotel Z. In Pokemon X and Y, AZ was revealed to be the former King of Kalos who created the Ultimate Weapon to revive his companion Floette. Through this device, they both became immortal.

Emma is a returning character from Pokemon X and Y where she was introduced during the post-game as an orphan taken in by Looker.
She is now known as the top detective in the city and still wears the expansion suit, an outfit controlled and given by Team Flare's Xerosic. Her Espurr companion, Mimi, also appears in this game.

On the 3F of the Pokemon Research Lab, players can find and interact with photos of Professor Sycamore who players meet in Pokemon X and Y. He is now the previous director of the Pokemon Research Lab.

At the Pokemon Research Lab, if you speak with one of the NPCs on the sofa in the lobby, you'll find out that Professor Sycamore resigned from his position.

An NPC mentions that Professor Sycamore and Trevor, one of the protagonist's friends in Pokemon X and Y, are in some far-off region.

In the Looker Bureau on the left wall, players can find pictures of Looker and Xerosic with Mimi. Looker was an officer who passed his position to Emma. He was introduced in Pokemon Platinum and has appeared in subsequent Pokemon Games including Pokemon X and Y.
Xerosic was a scientist who was part of Team Flare in Pokemon X and Y. He initially played the antagonist in Emma's story during the post-game.

An NPC mentions Tierno who the protagonist befriends in Pokemon X and Y and is part of the 5 group of children in the story. Tierno is said to be making waves as a dancer in Unova.

An NPC near Prism Tower talks about the Prism Tower siblings, Clemont who was the Electric Type Gym Leader in Pokemon X and Y and Bonnie his sister, the quiz master. They also talk about how the gym used to hold Pokemon battles and quizzes, referencing the challenge the player faced at Prism Tower in Pokemon X and Y.

An NPC asks about what happened to Dexio and Sina, who first appeared in Pokemon X and Y as Professor Sycamore's assistants.

Posters of Valerie, the Fairy Type Gym Leader from Laverre City in Pokemon X and Y, can be seen around Lumiose. An NPC mentions that she is from the Johto Region.

An NPC mentions Siebold has left the Elite Four to hone his culinary skills. Siebold first appeared in Pokemon X and Y as a member of Kalos' Elite Four who specialized in Water Type Pokemon. A receptionist at Hotel Richissime also mentions that the hotel's chef was once Siebold's star pupil.

Found throughout Lumiose City are mentions of the famous actress Diantha who first appeared in Pokemon X and Y. She was also the Pokemon League Champion trainers faced.

Upon riding Zach's Lumi Cab in front of Racine Construction, there's a chance that he will talk about the Ghost Girl players encounter in Pokemon X and Y.

After your match with L during the final Main Mission, he mentions a group of 5 children. He is referring to the group of children the player is part of and befriends which includes the Protagonist, Rival (Calem/Serena), Shauna, Tierno and Trevor.

Some of the NPCs around Lumiose City mention O-Powers, a special feature that grants buffs and was explained by Mr. Bonding in Pokemon X and Y. This feature is also present in Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

An NPC mentions bringing back Super Training which was a way to raise EVs through minigames in Pokemon X and Y.

An NPC compares the emerging Wild Zones as Safari Zones, a place that appeared in multiple Pokemon games where trainers can find and catch different kinds of Pokemon.

An NPC mentions Poke Puffs, which is what trainers fed their Pokemon in Pokemon Amie when playing Pokemon X and Y.

Players will revisit the topic of Sky Battles during Side Mission 69, A Sky Battle, for Old Times' Sake. Sky Battles were first introduced in Pokemon X and Y where trainers were limited to floating or Flying type Pokemon fighting in the air.

If you speak with the NPC on the South Boulevard you'll find out that fewer people roller skate these days. This is a reference to the roller skating feature in Pokemon X and Y and why it's different around Lumiose City this time around.

An NPC mentions the Gogoat Shuttle service feature in Pokemon X and Y. It is not present in Legends: Z-A and is instead replaced by Lumi cabs.

The name, and presumably logo of this t-shirt and shacket set is likely a reference to Fullmetal Alchemist and RoboCop.

The image on the back of this pullover is likely a reference to Godzilla vs. King Kong.

The logo on this cap references Jurassic Park's logo.

Players can find the abandoned Lysandre Cafe to the northeast of Wild Zone 7. In Pokemon X and Y, it hid Lysandre Labs, the headquarters for Team Flare.

A painting from the Lumiose Museum shows a descendant of the Kalos King's younger brother who Lysandre mentions, back in Pokemon X and Y, is his ancestor.

Players can talk to an NPC outside Quasartico Inc. confirming that the game is set 5 years after the events in Pokemon X and Y. The NPC references the incident with Team Flare specifically.

As you speak with different NPCs around the city some will mention their thoughts on the Team Flare incident that happened during the events of Pokemon X and Y. The NPC above defends Lysandre as he helped people in need.

In the B2F of Lysandre's Labs players can find the holding cell where AZ was imprisoned during the events of Pokemon X and Y. Lysandre imprisoned him for access to the Ultimate Weapon.

The mythical Pokemon Diancie, who is closely tied to and originates from the Kalos region, is painted in a similar style to the famous Johannes Vermeer painting, The Girl with the Pearl Earring.

The painting of the Gothitelle evolution line, Mightyena evolution line and Gossifleur in the Lumiose Museum references Madame Georges Charpentier and Her Children, a painting by Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

Depicted in numerous paintings, the Tower of Mastery is located in Shalour City and first appeared in Pokemon X and Y. It has a rich history regarding Mega Evolution where Lucario is known as the first Pokemon to Mega Evolve.
When investigating one of the paintings, the description references the use of roller skates, a function that was available in Pokemon X and Y.

The male protagonist in Pokemon X and Y, Calem, appears in a painting. This is found in the section of the Tower of Mastery.

Although the exhibit in Lumiose Museum states that the first Mega Stone and Key Stone were said to have been found to the north of Shalour City, Rayquaza is known to Mega Evolve without the need for these. It is a Legendary Pokemon that hails from the Hoenn region.
An NPC on the North Boulevard references this, stating that the first Mega Evolution happened in Hoenn.

The Glittering Cave was an area that appeared in Pokemon X and Y. It was known for its gemstones and glowing moss.

The Kalos Power Plant was where players had to defeat Team Flare members in X and Y. It was a landmark that could be seen from a desert area.

The Laverre City Gym was a Fairy Type Gym players encountered in Pokemon X and Y. It was where trainers had to defeat Valerie, the Gym Leader.

An NPC mentions that they were a part of the Pokemon Fan Club which is a group that appears over multiple Pokemon games but in Pokemon X and Y was found in Laverre City.

Coumarine City was a seaside town players encountered in Pokemon X and Y, known for its railways and port. Players had to defeat the Grass type Gym Leader Ramos here.

Parfum Palace was a landmark built by the royals of Kalos many years ago. When playing through Pokemon X and Y, players encounter it as a museum.

The Poke Ball factory was the northernmost landmark in the Kalos region, first released in Pokemon X and Y.

An NPC inside the Sushi High Roller mentions Azure Bay, which was a place trainers could visit in Pokemon X and Y.

Players can find the original model of Prism Tower, first shown in Pokemon X and Y, on a shelf in Pokemon Centers

These are Venerated Portraits that were displayed by the Diamond and Pearl Clan whose groups players encounter in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The people shown are said to represent the sun, sea and land and bear a striking resemblance to Archie, Maxie and Alder from Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Black and White.

The pictures show popular hairstyles in Jubilife city, reminiscent of how players in Pokemon Legends: Arceus could customize their own hairstyles.

Shown as well in the museum is Commander Kamado's armor in which the description from the museum itself mentions its strong resemblence the armor of Wikstrom, a member of Kalos' Elite Four.

The museum also display's the Kimono of Commander Kamado, the first Commander of the Galaxy Expedition Team.

The sketches show Professor Laventon's studies on Pokemon. If players investigate the sketches, they'll find a funny detail that gives credit to a 15 year old who helped in completing Professor Laventon's Pokemon Research.

Players will visit an old building during the second part of Main Mission 20 where they have to fight a bunch of Gengar. A photo on the wall shows Professor Laventon who appears in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

These statues of Dialga and Palkia also appeared in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

The outfit of the protagonist in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is also displayed. The description from the museum also has a funny quote that the uniform was so durable, that the headgear always stayed in place no matter how the person moved.

The painting shows what the Temple of Sinnoh or the Spear Pillar would have looked like if completed. These are important landmarks where the protagonists from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum and Legends: Arceus face the legendary Pokemon.

The painting shows The Ancient Quarry an area players encounter when playing through Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

Donated to the museum is the outfit of Volo, a merchant from the Gingko Guild. This is the outfit he wears when battling him and the museum even confirms that he donated it himself, meaning Volo has been alive for 1000+ years.

If you look closely at the tablet between the statues of Dialga and Palkia, you will see all Legendaries and Hisuian Forms from Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

The map on one of the walls shows Hisui and describes that it was drawn from someone riding a flying Pokemon. This calls back to flying with Hisuian Braviary in Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

Poke Balls used during Pokemon Legends: Arceus are displayed and admired by museum goers for their craftsmanship.

When players investigate the painting on the Training Grounds, the description mentions Ingo, a warden from the Pearl Clan and his guidance on Pokemon Battles.
The description also reads that he vanished one day after saying It's time for me to return.
This confirms that Ingo was able to regain his memories and return to Unova to reunite with his brother, Emmet.

An NPC in the displayed locations above mentions that Multi Trains, which appear in Pokemon Black and White, are running again. This is further confirmation that Ingo has returned to his original time.

An NPC mentions that they used to apprentice for Professor Rowan, the Pokemon Professor for Pokemon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum.

An NPC mentions Kurt, the famous craftsman of Apricorn Balls who comes from the Johto region.

An NPC mentions their travels to Paldea and seeing sculptures made by the Grass Type Gym Leader, Brassius.

An NPC asks about who La Primera is which is Geeta's title from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Two NPCs think about which would win between a Mega Evolved Pokemon and a Tera Pokemon. Terastallization was introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as the special mechanic of the game.

During Side Mission 73, Full Course of Battles: High Rolling, trainers will have to fight against 3 Pokemon. Although not exactly the same, this is reminiscent of triple battles, which was introduced in Pokemon Black and White and continued in Pokemon X and Y.

A traveling pair mentions heading to Galar for Dynamaxing, the unique feature introduced in Pokemon Sword and Shield.

Players can find multiple references to Leon throughout the city. During one of the Main Missions, upon meeting Jacinthe of the Society of Battle Connoisseurs she mentions Leon's recent visit.
If you ride Zach's Lumi Cab, which is found in front of Racine Construction, there's a chance he will talk about Leon nd his bad luck with directions.

An NPC mentions that one of the best battles they saw was between Leon and Raihan, the Champion and Dragon Type Gym Leader from Galar. Their rivalry can also be seen during Pokemon Sword and Shield.

An NPC mentions Piers and his music, who players encounter in Pokemon Sword and Shield as a Gym Leader who specializes in Dark Type Pokemon.

An NPC mentions the Isle of Armor, the location of the DLC for Pokemon Sword and Shield.

An NPC tests the trainer and asks what moves Pokemon get when Mega Evolving. One of the choices includes Max Moves which were the moves pokemon got when Dynamaxing in Pokemon Sword and Shield.
