How to Unlock Awaken, Cofagrigus!

Complete Side Missions 85

Follow Litwick

In order to unlock Awaken, Cofagrigus!, you must first complete Side Mission 85: Follow Litwick! This side mission can be started near Cafe Triste in the Magenta District and requires you to follow a Litwick headed towards the sewers.

Defeat Canari and Ivor in Hyperspace Mission 9

Bolts and Brawn Canari and Ivor

If you've already completed Follow Litwick!, Side Mission 171: Awaken, Cofagrigus! should unlock after defeating Canari and Ivor during the events of Hyperspace Mission 9.

A Rust Syndicate Grunt will be hanging around the Lumiose Sewers entrance along Magenta Street, by the canal. Talk to him to start this side mission.

  1. Enter Lumiose Sewers
  2. Attack the Sleeping Cofagrigus

Enter Lumiose Sewers

Enter Lumiose Sewers through the Magenta Street Entrance

After you accept the side mission from the Rust Syndicate Grunt, enter the Lumiose Sewers through the door nearby.

Take note that only this sewer entrance will progress the quest. The Lumiose Sewers entrance in the Bleu District will not lead to the section of the sewers that is required in this side mission.

Attack the Sleeping Cofagrigus

You'll find yourself face-to-face with a floating sarcophagus—what appears to be a sleeping Cofagrigus. Bring out any Pokemon with an attacking move, target the Cofagrigus, then attack it.

This Cofagrigus should wake up and innocently float away. However, five more Cofagrigus can be found in the area. Target and attack all of them to complete the quest.

The final Cofagrigus you need to complete the quest seems to only appear once you've found and attacked the other five Cofagrigus.

One of the Cofagrigus, a Lv. 75 Alpha, will challenge you to a battle upon being awoken. It's recommended to bring a Dark-type Pokemon such as Absol or Greninja, and have them be at least level 70 to fight the Alpha Cofagrigus.

It does not seem like you can catch any of the Cofagrigus in this quest. If you want a Cofagrigus of your own, you must find them in Hyperspace Wild Zones.

After releasing the man in Awaken, Cofagrigus!, you will be rewarded with some money as well as the TM for Shadow Punch, a Ghost-type physical move that you can teach to compatible Pokemon.

In addition to the quest rewards, you will also get 2 Nuggets and a Rare Candy during the side mission as you attack Cofagrigus.
