Fast Travel to the Justice Dojo, where you can find Ivor with two opposing Pokemon Trainers. Approach them and accept their request to start the side mission!

Choose a Team With the Pokemon You Have

You can choose to side with either team Sawk or Throh based on which Pokemon you already have. Both Pokemon share the same weaknesses, resistances, and similar movesets, so it mostly comes down to which advantage you prefer, and which one you have available.

Throh has higher HP, but lower attack power and even slower attack speed, making it a tankier choice. Sawk, on the other hand, has lower HP but higher attack power and significantly higher speed compared to Throh.

Catch Either Sawk or Throh

If you don't have either Pokemon before accepting this request, catch one first through a 3-Star Hyperspace Wild Zone that houses Fighting-type Pokemon. If you don't see any on your map, you can reroll them by passing time on a bench until the correct one appears.

Learn the Zen Headbutt Move

Pokemon Legends ZA Learn Zen Headbutt

If you have the TM, we recommend teaching your chosen Pokemon the Zen Headbutt move, which is earned by reaching Level 20 on Mable's Research. This will be the most effective move to have, as both Pokemon are weak to Psychic-type damage.

Once you’ve chosen between Sawk and Throh, make sure your Pokemon is at an appropriate level. We recommend leveling it to at least Level 80 or more, as you’ll be facing a Level 80 Sawk or Throh, depending on which team you didn’t choose.

Begin the Sawk vs. Throh Tournament

Pokemon Legends ZA Begin the Sawk vs Throh Tournament

Once you’ve picked a team to side with, have either a solo Sawk or Throh in your party, then speak with Ivor to to begin the tournament. The first four Sawk and Throh will battle each other on their own, with the final match’s winner being decided by whether you can win the Pokemon battle against the opposing team.

Upon reaching the tournament's final stage, you’ll be challenged by either Freppe or Lence, who will have a Level 80 Sawk or Throh respectively, depending on which team you didn’t choose. Having your Pokemon at a higher level can make the fight easier, and even more effective if they’ve learned Zen Headbutt.

Be sure to use recovery items mid-battle if your Pokemon’s HP drops significantly. The battle concludes once the winner is announced, completing the side mission and granting you rewards!
