Regular Ampharos Build★★★★★ |
Strengths:
• Decently balanced bulk. • Has a lot of utility for any team. • Can hold different items like Focus Sash or Leftovers. Weaknesses: • Mainly used as a Screen setter for your other Pokemon. |
Mega Ampharos Build★★★☆☆ |
Strengths:
• Decent attacker especially with Discharge and Dragon Pulse. • Mostly deals damage from a long range, can punish opponents frong getting near with Dazzling Gleam. Weaknesses: • A lot of Ground-types in the current meta. Electric-type attackers aren't that needed. • Lowered speed whe Mega Evolved makes it more incumbent to run lower cooldown moves. |

This buuild focuses on Ampharos' bulk and having access to both Screen Moves. Focus on getting a Bold nature so you can tank a few Ground type moves.
| Item | Effect / Location |
|---|---|
|
|
Effect: An item to be held by a Pokemon. If the holder has full HP and it is hit with a move that should knock it out, it will endure with 1 HP-but only once. Location(s): • Purchased at Racine Construction (₽ 4980) • Reward from Side Mission 59 |
The item chosen for Ampharos for this build is the Focus Sash. This will guarantee you can get a screen up before swapping into another Pokemon.
Focus Sash: How to Get and How to Use
| Light Screen & Reflect | Set these up at the start, then switch into any of your other attackers. |
|---|---|
| Discharge | Used to hit pesky Flying and Water-types like Gyarados and Talonflame. |
| Dig | Used Defensively to evade moves. Not really used for its damage. |
This set focuses on having Ampharos deal set up sceeens for allies so they can attack enemies safely. Preferrably for tankier Pokemon like Mega Clefable or Mega Skarmory.
| Dazzling Gleam | A good alternative to Discharge to shave off a ton of HP from Garchomp. |
|---|---|
| Roar | Pushes enemies away from you, good for more fragile Attackers. |
| Electroweb | Controls the Speed of those in front of you, making it safer to switch in without fear of being attacked by another attack. |
A full 252 EVs are put into Ampharos's HP and Def to make it tank as much damage as possible. Get the rest on Special Attack to deal a bit more damage.
A Bold nature is preferred to help further increase Ampharos's Defense stat, letting it survive a few hits
| Item: Assault Vest | Discharge 168-204 (83.1 - 100.9%) 6.3% chance to OHKO |
| Item: Life Orb | Dig 1 156-187 (79.1 - 94.9%) Guaranteed 2HKO |
| Item: Excadrite | Dig 144-170 (73 - 86.2%) Guaranteed 2HKO |

This build focuses on Mega Ampharos to snipe off enemies from afar with Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse. Focus more into your HP and Special Attack.
| Item | Effect / Location |

|
Effect: One of a variety of mysterious Mega Stones. An Ampharos holding this stone will be able to Mega Evolve during battle. Location(s): • Defeat Rogue Mega Ampharos |
The item chosen for Ampharos for this build is its Mega Stone, Ampharosite. This will let you Mega Evolve and deal damage.
How to Get Ampharosite Mega Stone
| Dragon Pulse | Used to hit Dragon-types like Dragonite and Garchomp. |
|---|---|
| Volt Switch | Thunderbolt and Dragon Pulse require the user to be near the trainer. This puts Ampharos at the proper placement to quickly fire off an attack instead of having to follow you around. |
| Thunderbolt | Used to hit Flying and Water-types like Gyarados and Greninja. |
| Dig | Used Defensively to prevent damage. Can deal ok damage against Metagross and Excadrill. |
This set focuses on having Ampharos deal as much damage as possible. Use Volt Switch to position Ampharos to quickly fire off its attacks.
| Discharge | A good alternative to Thunderbolt to take out groups of enemies. |
|---|---|
| Dazzling Gleam | Lets you hit more enemies for Spuer-Effective damage, but does require Ampharos to approach enemies. |
| Focus Blast | Lets you scare off the annoying Excadrills. |
| Zap Cannon | More power than THunderbolt and guaranteed to Paralyze, but can be easily evaded. |
A full 252 EVs are put into Ampharos's Special Attack and HP to make it hit as hard and tank as much damage as possible. The extra 4 EVs can be placed into Speed for cooldowns, but its negligible.
A Modest nature is preferred to help further increase Ampharos's Special Attack stat.
| Item: Greninjite | Heavy Slam 570-672 (205.7 - 242.5%) Guaranteed OHKO |
| Item: Gyaradosite | Thunder Punch 216-256 (65.2 - 77.3%) Guaranteed 2HKO |
Although Ampharos can function as an attacker, it's best used as a support Pokemon with its Screens providing great utility to its teammates.
Ampharos's offensive power can be difficult for opponents to wall especially if their teams do not have Ground-types. Use Ampharos to deal massive damage and sweep through teams.
Ampharos can fit into almost any team, but flourishes in more on teams that focus on bulk like Skarmory or Metagross teams.
| Defensive Lead | Special Sweeper | Physical Sweeper |
|---|---|---|
Ampharos
|
Mega Dragalge

Mega Skarmory

This team focuses on setting up screens with Ampharos, then switching to either Dragalge or Skarmory to set up status conditions and hazards to chip away at enemies.
| Defensive Lead | Special Attacker | Special Attacker |
|---|---|---|
Aggron
|
Mega Ampharos
|
Delphox
|
These three Pokemon are all powerful attackers and can cover for a wide variety of enemies. Switch in and out Pokemon to gain a favourable matchup while also looking to punish your opponent when you have a bad switch in.
While Ground-types won't Ampharos' Dragon moves, they will gladly take an Electric-type Move. Strategic switches will help you beat opposing Ampharos.

Hi Trainer, good eye! But to increase one Stat Point, you need to get four EVs. This will leave the two remaining EV Points unused. Good luck in your builds~
