Rogue Mega Banette
Rogue Mega Banette is battled during Main Mission 18 in Pokemon Legends: Z-A. Read on to learn how to beat Rogue Mega Banette and the best counters to use against it!

Best Pokemon to Use Against Rogue Mega Banette

Resists:

Pokemon Poison Type IconPoison
Pokemon Fighting Type IconFighting
Pokemon Normal Type IconNormal

Mega Banette is solely a Ghost-type Pokemon. The only types effective against it would be Dark-types and other Ghost-types, which limits your options since other Ghost-types will be weak against Banette. This leaves you with using only Dark-type Pokemon for type advantages.

Mega Banette is resistant to Bug, Poison, Fighting, and Normal-types, so avoid including these types in your team.

Rogue Mega Pokemon

Absol

Absol ImageAbsol

Moves:
Shadow Claw
Night Slash
Ice Beam
Swords Dance
Where to Get:
・After defeating Rogue Mega Absol in Main Mission 9
Absol has a solid moveset beyond Level 30 and can wield both Dark and Ghost-type moves, which are Mega Banette's main weaknesses. Shadow Claw will be used to lower Banette's Sp. Def, while Swords Dance will boost Absol's own Attack. Night Slash and Ice Beam will serve as its main damage dealing moves.

Absol's learnset includes both Dark and Ghost type moves, which gives it a stronger advantage against Banette. Also, since Absol is solely a Dark-type Pokemon, it can resist Banette's Ghost-type attacks. This makes it the most optimal counter Pokemon against Rogue Mega Banette.

Recommended Move Rotation

Swords Dance → Shadow Claw → Night Slash → Ice Beam → Shadow Claw

Use Swords Dance to sharply increase Absol's Attack, then follow it up with Shadow Claw. Shadow Claw not only deals damage, but it also lowers Mega Banette's Sp. Def. Use Night Slash next to unleash a strong Dark-type attack, then weave between rotations with Ice Beam.

Although it is an Ice-type move, Ice Beam is a powerful long-ranged move, which allows you to attack Banette from a distance. This gives you the opportunity to make more strategic movements during battle. Ice Beam can be obtained through a TM you can find in Wild Zone 12.

Moves Guide

Sharpedo

Moves:
Night Slash
Bite
Crunch
Focus Energy
Where to Get:
・Evolve from Carvanha at Lvl. 30. Carvanha is found at Wild Zone 10.
・An Alpha Sharpedo can be found at Wild Zone 10.
Sharpedo's high Attack stats encourages you to have a more aggressive playstyle. Combined with its capability to use Dark-type moves, that makes Sharpedo a good secondary counter to Mega Banette.

Sharpedo is a strong offensive Pokemon with a high base Atk stat, which makes it a good counter to Pokemon with heavier builds. This compliments its capability to use Dark-type Moves, making it a good counter to Mega Banette.

Get Sharpedonite From Quasartico Inc.

Trade Mega Shards in Quasartico Inc headquarters

Sharpedonite, which is used to Mega Evolve Sharpedo, can be bought from Quasartico Inc. for 180 Mega Shards. Mega Shards can be collected by destroying clusters around Lumiose City.

How to Find Mega Shards

Recommended Move Rotation

Focus Energy → Crunch → Night Slash → Bite → Focus Energy

Start off with Focus Energy to increase Sharpedo's chances of landing a critical hit. Afterwards, use Sharpedo's strongest Dark-type attack, which would be Crunch. Use Night Slash after Crunch, then use Bite to maintain damage while your other moves are in cooldown.
